a thing in 23 photos in 2011 boardwalk showing 2011 only · show all years ...watched the surfers for a bit and then we loaded up a car service car with all of our gear and headed back home to the East Village! We took the hound for one last stroll down the boardwalk... Later that afternoon, we hit the beach again. Parts of the boardwalk had been pretty badly damaged by the storm (but nothing compared with what Sandy would do 13 months later). Before we had to the airport, I hit the beach to try to get some of the pre-Hurricane Irene waves that were starting to roll in. ...to the other! We rode all the way from one end of the boardwalk... ...and then we rented bicycles! Meredith had a terrible bike accident when she was a little kid and never really got around to getting back on one so we decided to give it a shot! Get it! After cleaning up my cut... ...and watched the surfers for a while. We went up to the boardwalk, got Thai iced coffees... Took the dog for a long walk near the beach. (No dogs allowed when there's people around) Mer came out and met me later that afternoon. Maddy loves the boardwalk. The waves that day were the biggest we'd seen in weeks! After two hours we took a break to wander the boardwalk... ...and then drove over to Beach 67th. Totally empty on a Friday! Marcello & MeredithAh, Rockaway. Solid day. Hey, everyone: MOAR CONDOS!
