I finally got called up around midnight and played 2 songs. This guy was very David Brent. I ran into Jane Anne on the street for the first time ever and told her I was waiting my turn at the open mic. At 8pm, I went over to Sidewalk Cafe to play a few of my songs at their open mic night. I drew slot #31 on the list. I watched the first few acts... Recovery week. Spent the day... ...playing guitar and recording whatever little song ideas popped into my head... Spent the evening working on songwriting! Spend the day nursing a hangover and working on a song. Came back home and played some guitar! Spent the evening hanging out with this guy. Played some MORE GUITAR in the morning and then.... I stayed up playing guitar in my undies... Had the day off on Friday! Played some guitar and read another excellent book on etheric body by Master Choa Kok Sui! Played each other some tunes before bed! Woke up the next morning and laid some hot LIXX over the rhythm tracks I'd laid down in the wee hours of the previous night! Came home feeling inspired recorded a few of my own lil' diddies. Afterwards, I went over to Richie Baxt's famous East Village apartment (Richie's Guitars!) and bought myself this gorgeous birthday present! My first acoustic guitar! Spent the night playing guitar... Took this picture to send to Scott to let him know I'd found this hippy necklace he left at my house last time he visited! Happy July 2016! Wednesday night I went to see Kai perform some original songs on 12th Street. Rocking a tight Freddy Merc look years before they decided to make a movie. ;) Recorded some tunes on Saturday morning. What my crazy-person's living room looks like when I wake up in the morning! Spent the evening playing guitar! Ok, you can play guitar but I'm gonna watch. ...played a lil guitar.... Oh, you know just sitting around, foam rolling, playing guitar... After the paint dried, I mounted my two new wall hooks and hung out my guitar (and a borrowed bass from Matt). When I got back home, I had a late night visit from Jane. The first time I ever hung out with Jane she played me a song on the guitar. She hasn't played me a song since. :( Played some tunes on Sunday morning. VIDEO
In addition to trying to get better at formal songwriting - I've also been trying to get better at just letting music flow out of me! Celebrated the longest day of the year by writing a quick 8-bar loop, then pressing record and playing without thinking. Came out sounding summery.
