Here are the rest of the random pics that I took in January 2007!
Tuesday, January 9th
Hey now! Go, Leigh, go! I have no idea what Leigh and I were doing over Sarah's apartment at 3am on a Tuesday night drinking vodka straight from the bottle. I used to go out and do stuff like this 4 nights a week and then be at work the next morning!
Leigh smoking in the elevator! (Rulebreaker!) This type of behavior is no longer a regular occurrence for either of us (well, at least not on Tuesday nights). We are getting old.
On Saturday, I played with our rats. Over time, Meredith and I noticed that they had two very distinct personalities and temperaments! Ratso is really friendly and loves to be pet and handled (so we started calling her "The Good One"). Roxy is cranky and hates to be touched or handled (so she's since become known as "The Bad One").
On Wednesday night I went to Ellen's birthday dinner at Max Brenner's and ended up FAINTING IN PUBLIC!
I arrived at the dinner feeling really shaky because I'd had a crazy day at work and had only managed to grab a quick snack for lunch. We ordered food, but it took a long time to arrive and so I ended up drinking two of these espresso and chocolate ice cream martinis and then sneaking outside with Matt and Karen to smoke a joint on Broadway.
After our sneaky smoke, I came back to the table and was like "Uh-oh, I don't feel so well." I felt really spinny and felt the blood drain from my face. I told Meredith I felt ill and told her I was going to catch a cab home.
I made it downstairs to the restaurant's lobby, and then right there in front of a group of like 30 people waiting to be seated for dinner, fainted! I remember getting to the bottom of the stairs and thinking "Oh no, I think I'm going to throw up. No, wait. This is something different...is that what it feels like when you're going to faint?" I apparently then went down like a pile of bricks. I was awoken a few minutes later by alarmed staff-members who were totally freaking out and I had to talk them out of calling 911.
Lesson Learned? Caffeine + Alcohol + Weed + Empty Stomach = FAINTING IN PUBLIC! Just because your drink has Gummy Bears in it doesn't mean it still can't kick your ass.
After spending a few minutes sitting in a chair in the restaurant's lobby making sure I felt better, I hailed a cab and headed home. I took this picture of "fainting goat" me as soon as I got inside. Sorry I missed your birthday dinner, Ellen! Hahahah.
Generals & Majors is the new band that my friends Jesse and Jared started after Group Sounds, their old band, disbanded. They are pretty much the most fun band in NYC to see live. Their new lead singer totally lets go on stage and...
...is the only person I've ever seen who has "jumping and kicking" skills that rival Grant's. Check out the height he gets! (This photo was taken by Jackie Roman)
On Friday night I went to karaoke to celebrate Matt Lesser's birthday! Matt was the "Sid" half of Sid & Buddy karaoke and is one of the two people pretty much responsible for getting me hooked on karaoke.
Herman used to be a regular back in the Sid & Buddy glory days when they had karaoke down in the basement of Nolita Tavern two or three times a week and shit would get totally OUT OF CONTROL.
Besides Herman, there were even some "real" famous people there. You know you've made it in the karaoke world when Horatio Sanz, Jimmy Fallon, and Dennis Haskins (aka - "Mr. Belding" from Saved By The Bell) team up to sing as a trio at your birthday party!
Wow, just wow. I was going to make a joke about the types of tiny, simple machines that could be powered by harnessing their collective "star power," but I think I'll just stick with "wow" instead.
