...and satiate everyone's caffeine cravings with a delicious new concoction he called "TEA-PUCCINO!" It was like the Grand-Slam of dad jokes. This picture rules.
Oh, and free drinks. We weren't sure how long the free bar was going to go on for so every time some went up for drinks, we'd double the order. Hahaha. Here's the stockpile we built up in one trip.e
On Wednesday night I went to Ellen's birthday dinner at Max Brenner's and ended up FAINTING IN PUBLIC!
I arrived at the dinner feeling really shaky because I'd had a crazy day at work and had only managed to grab a quick snack for lunch. We ordered food, but it took a long time to arrive and so I ended up drinking two of these espresso and chocolate ice cream martinis and then sneaking outside with Matt and Karen to smoke a joint on Broadway.
After our sneaky smoke, I came back to the table and was like "Uh-oh, I don't feel so well." I felt really spinny and felt the blood drain from my face. I told Meredith I felt ill and told her I was going to catch a cab home.
I made it downstairs to the restaurant's lobby, and then right there in front of a group of like 30 people waiting to be seated for dinner, fainted! I remember getting to the bottom of the stairs and thinking "Oh no, I think I'm going to throw up. No, wait. This is something different...is that what it feels like when you're going to faint?" I apparently then went down like a pile of bricks. I was awoken a few minutes later by alarmed staff-members who were totally freaking out and I had to talk them out of calling 911.
Lesson Learned? Caffeine + Alcohol + Weed + Empty Stomach = FAINTING IN PUBLIC! Just because your drink has Gummy Bears in it doesn't mean it still can't kick your ass.
After the ceremony, we had about an hour and change to kill before the reception started, so we went back up to our room, relaxed, had ourselves a few drinky drinks and then headed back downstairs to the reception hall...
After he couldn't get the glass out, he decided to try to pick out the dry ice in his drink with his bare fingers...and he burned the fuck out of them. When he hopped up out of the booth to run to the bathroom and wash his instantly frost-bitten fingers under some warm water, the amount of booze he'd consumed caught up with him and he fell out of the booth and almost sprawled out on the floor.
In the hour that we were there, Philip went through TWO of the half-sized Warp Core Breaches (meaning he consumed 10 oz of liquor - the equivalent of six and a half drinks - in about an hour!!!). Half-way through his second drink he started trying to pry his drink's glass container out of the metal holding stand.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the very best of Star Trek-themed alcoholic beverages, the WARP CORE BREACH! (Please note the vapor cloud in the container due to the copious amounts of dry ice they put in it).
Hey, It's this guy! I think his name is Jay, not sure. Anyway, Jay was at Rosemary's Tavern the infamous night I french-kissed a senior citizen and never fails to remind me of it every time I run into him. Big ups! Big ups!
On Wednesday, Sarah took me to some party CosmoGirl Magazine was throwing for Michelle Branch. After fighting our way through the throng surrounding the fancy top-shelf open bar, we did the only sensible thing: doubled up.
So out of the blue on Sunday night, Grant announces that on Monday
morning he's going to start a ten day fast. No food at all; only water
with lemon juice, cayenne pepper and maple syrup. I predicted that
he wouldn't make it more than two days and he got mad and wanted to
bet me $500 on whether or not he'd make it through all 10 days. I politely
declined (as my parent's taught me that stealing from the mentally
handicapped is wrong). Grant was disappointed that I wasn't going to
take him up on the bet, but he still wanted me to document the progress
of his fast. So, here's his first sip of the conncoction - 11:36am.
Let the fast being!
Grant proudly displays his very own drink creation, The SweetTart.
Brett, intially impressed, asked him:
"What's in the SweetTart?" Grant: "A shot of Amaretto mixed with sour mix." Brett:
"Oh. Actually, that's called an Amaretto Sour." Grant (picking up a random bottle and adding a splash): "There! Now it's a SweetTart."
