...Ellen's birthday (a few days early).

...pop it off for 2016!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Champagne & Psilocybin!
champagne
A little before midnight we went up onto the roof to bring in the new year with the rest of the city!
champagne
...to bring in the new year at Ellen & Hans' apartment!
champagne
It was super-cold outside, so after we finished our champagne toast, we moved the party back inside.
champagne
...I grabbed an extra bottle of champagne...

champagne
...and I got a big old plate of airport-Chinese veggie lo mein. Mmmmm.
champagne
And because Mike is one of the most-thoughtful people I know, he brought cans of champagne(!!!) for the occasion. (A move that totally out-classed the champagne at our wedding that was served in plastic Coors Light cups).

Delicious!
champagne
...we had a tail-gate bumper champagne reception!

Amanda holding up the broken-off end of the bottle with the cork still inside.
champagne
I gave her step by step instructions and stepped back to try to capture an action shot. Less than a minute later, BLAMO! Check out the action shot I managed to capture of Amanda cutting the bottle top clean off!
champagne
I peeled the label off a bottle of champagne and announced that I was going to try to use a knife to "saber" the bottle (cut the top off of it!). Grant taught me how to do it back in July of 2006, and it's been my go-to "party trick" ever since! Right as I was warming up, Amanda said that she wanted to try doing it!
champagne
After dinner we went back to Rachael's and had some drinks.
champagne
Champagne was uncorked! (By hand, much to my disappointment)
champagne
"NOW YOU TRY."
champagne
...and arrived at Siege & KT's low-key, no pressure New Year's Eve party. Here's KT showing Cat the "proper" way to uncork a bottle of champagne.
champagne
When someone busted out a bottle of bubbly, all eyes were on Grant to show off his new sabering skills!
champagne
Voila! He did it! He did it! (How awesome is that clean break?)
champagne
I understood the basic principle, but was unable to get it to work the first few times I tried. (I've since gotten it down cold!) So I handed the bottle back over to Grizz and let him show off the magic!
champagne
On Sunday afternoon, Grant came over and showed me how to use a knife to saber open a bottle of champagne!
Here's a vid of him in bottle-top-chopping action!
champagne
Wooooo!
champagne
Drink it up!
champagne
Amanda!
champagne
Around 2:30am, bottles of champagne made the rounds through the crowd...
champagne
...to ensure that anyone who was thinking about singing some karaoke would have enough of a buzz-on to do so.
champagne
Champagne time!
champagne
Amanda popped the champagne!
champagne
Monday night a bunch of us went over to Sarah's to celebrate something (finishing her book?) and to have some beers and get warmed up for some pirate-themed party she and Karen were DJing at the Delancey.
champagne
Champagne mini-bottle. Classy!
champagne
Mr. Moustache (First name, Comedy) loves him some champagne!
champagne
...3! I missed the cork coming out of the bottle, but if look by Emily's ear you'll see that I did manage to capture it going through her hair mid-flight after it had ricocheted off the wall!
