hiking — Our guide Percy paused and casually asked "Anyone thirsty?" before slashing his machete in a diagonal arc at a thick vine above his shoulder and offering the fresh water pouring out of it for each of us to drink.

hiking — As tempted as you might be to let your eyes wander around in wondoer as walk, there are worse things than tree spikes that you could accidentally put your face into...

hiking — Onward towards the monkeys!

hiking — Percy was an awesome guide. We paused at this huge bamboo grove to listen to the CAH-RAZY sounds of the howler monkeys in the distance barking / screaching to each other!

hiking — Percy decorated my jacket with a leaf to demonstrate it's sticky, velcro-like surface.

hiking — After going 90 minutes up river, we stopped for a hike through a wildlife preserve.

hiking — ...Chautauqua Park. (It's not as nice as Tompkins Park, but it was alright).

hiking — Hiked up a big hill.

hiking — ...and then headed across the river to hike around on my own.

hiking — Awesome view of Playa Colorado! See that part of the water that looks like a giant sandbar? That's sand from Panga Drop's undertow!

hiking — Later that afternoon, Steve and I crossed the river again to hike up to the highest point around.

hiking — We followed the stream down the mountain for a while.

hiking — ...with a wooden foot path around it.

hiking — ...there was a pond...

hiking — Breathtaking views everywhere.

hiking — The temperature was much better as we started walking down a bit.

hiking — Really neat to see all the plants and wildflowers that thrive in snow's absence.
