Let that be a lesson about the potential pitfalls of trying to turn someone's solo karaoke jam into a group sing-a-long!
karaoke
...Scott ended up choking Lisa out WWF er, WWE-style.
karaoke
..darker and darker until finally....
karaoke
...slowly started morphing into something...
karaoke
...a solo song, temporarily blossomed into a duet for just a brief moment and then it...
karaoke
I think Lisa got a little too "handsy" with the mic and what started out as...
karaoke
"Er, wait a minute...wasn't this MY song?"
karaoke
Hahaha.
karaoke
So stoked on it that she barely let Scott get any solo time in before she rushed up on stage for the assist!
karaoke
And for the grand finale, how about a little behind the back boobie flash? Nicely played, Lis.
karaoke
And check out this one! How about crouching down behind the guy and then using his shoulder...
karaoke
...to pull yourself up into an explosive "FUCK YEAH!" Now that's what I call teamwork.
karaoke
...slowly moved them closer so that he was aware of her "presence"....
karaoke
Then the only other guy that was there sang! Lisa took the assist on this one. She started slow with some background dance moves...
karaoke
...and then parlayed them into a really nice face-to-face halftime dance breakdown.
karaoke
But eventually worked his way up to "duet status!" Success!
karaoke
Which everyone seemed to understand meant that anyone had the right to join the person that was performing and "help them out." Scott started off with a low-key assist, mostly taking over "pigeon necking" dance duties.
karaoke
The next girl that sang wasn't with our group, but since it was now almost 3am and there were only two other people at the place besides our group, this is when the distinction between "us and them" broke down and we all became ONE DRUNK KARAOKE GROUP.
karaoke
And he ended with some nice "hero worship" moves at the end, you know, just to remind everyone whose song it was. Nicely done.
karaoke
...it was sort of hard to stay focused on him.
karaoke
The next guy that came up sang his goddamned heart out. But as incredible as his performance was...
karaoke
Lisa knows why.
karaoke
Naughty Girls (Need Love Too) by Samantha Foxx. (Which is exactly the kind of song you always want to sing at karaoke but never get to do until you're faced with a totally empty room and you can try out all sorts of new songs!).
karaoke
Then Amanda sang!
karaoke
And just when you thought that the "kneeling move" couldn't be taken any further...
karaoke
...Lisa turned her "kneeling move" into a "kneeling SPLIT move" and blew everyone's minds.
karaoke
...but I'm including pics because Lisa never fails to "bring her," as the Canadians are fond of saying.
karaoke
I don't remember what song and I don't have any screen pics to clue me in....
karaoke
Then Lisa sang again!
karaoke
Then this guy sang! He was awesome just by virtue of being...
karaoke
Dreams by Fleetwood Mac (which always makes me think of Karen every time I hear it because she's responsible for me buying Rumours).
karaoke
Then Lisa sang!
karaoke
Softer than a piper man one day it called to YOU!
karaoke
...we walked up to 2nd on 2nd so that we could continue singing karaoke! Check out our posse totally digging into the books and furiously jotting down songs. Hahaha.
karaoke
Then Pauly went up and sang karaoke for the very first time! (Also known as "cherryoke")
karaoke
He sang Summer Wind by Frank Sinatra!
karaoke
Yay, Pauly!
karaoke
Lisa went first. (Typical).
karaoke
I don't remember what song she sang, but a quick search for lyrics that contain the words seen here on the screen tells me that Google's basically accusing Lisa of singing a David Matthew's Band song! Oh, snap!
karaoke
Then Lisa sang!
karaoke
Jesse Oxfeld (formerly of Gawker) took the stage next.
karaoke
Killed it. Look at Pauly singing and pointing. Must've been a Jovi tune.
karaoke
Scott crooning to the crowd.
karaoke
Then Scott sang.
karaoke
Lisa's face says it all.
karaoke
Don't let his funny face fool you - homeboy can sing.
karaoke
A couple minutes later and Antony was called up to sing!
karaoke
And then a big finish! Ta-da!
karaoke
Hahaha.
karaoke
He took it in stride!
karaoke
Hahahaha.
karaoke
...and decided to just take it on up to the stage to "assist" the gentleman who was in the middle of his song!
karaoke
Who likes screaming more than me?
karaoke
You go, girl. You go.
karaoke
...this totally dirty-by-accident photo! Holy moly! But one thing's for sure, it certainly clears up any doubts anyone had about Lisa's ability to, ummm, work the mic.
karaoke
Lisa must've been singing some 80s hair metal ballad, because this is definitely a photo of me running to the stage so that I could "assist her" by playing air guitar during the guitar solo. The only reason this is even worth showing is because it accidentally resulted in...
karaoke
...and with such sexual intensity...
karaoke
...that Meredith just could not restrain herself any longer.
karaoke
Then Lisa sang something with such heart...
karaoke
And then there was this guy! Any time someone at karaoke goes up to sing and they're holding a rocks glass, you know you're in for a treat. Booze is the secret ingredient to karaoke and so if you're drinking it straight up it's basically telling other people that you're not there to fuck around, you're there to GET YOUR KARAOKE ON! This guy and his little dino arms were a karaoke dream come true.
karaoke
Jesus, lady. If you're not going to scream or do something interesting with the song you could at least take your top off or something. Let me introduce you to a couple of your more-fun karaoke counterparts!
karaoke
Oh jesus, remember this lady? She was wearing some kind of "wacky jumper" outfit and went up and sang How Much Is That Puppy In the Window. Yep, the one with the waggily tail. That fucking song.
karaoke
Then Gabe sang!
karaoke
Can you tell that I liked her? (I think this is my favorite creepy picture of myself, btw.)
karaoke
And oh-my-god could she sing. Holy moly.
karaoke
This girl looked like a Disney character.
karaoke
Like, how about Dr. Pumpkin Pants here! I have no memory whatsoever of what song she sang, but her outfit was so rad (I mean, HELLO!) that it just made every feel fantastic.
karaoke
...KARAOKE! Lisa hit the stage first (because it was only 9pm and the place was pretty much empty!). When you break out knee slides on your very first song, there's no where to go but UP!
karaoke
Then, Lisa closed out the night by serenading Pauly with Eternal Flame by The Bangles.
karaoke
Then Lisa and her friend did another duet!
karaoke
A little before 3am, Lisa and Pauly's friend Derek stopped by to dedicated a birthday jam to the birthday girl.
karaoke
They ended the song on the floor. I love this photo so much
karaoke
...LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE!
karaoke
Singing The Greatest Love of All by Whitney! (And there's Nicole in the background looking all pretty and fawny in the background).

And if by chance, that special place that you've been dreaming of leads you to a lonely place, find your strength in...
karaoke
Next up, Lisa! ALL LISA. ALL THE TIME!
karaoke
...throw the microphone down onto the floor and just start pumping out some pushups until the emcee announces the next person! ROCK!
karaoke
I learned something new that night! You see, there are a lot of songs that you think will be great karaoke songs, but you forget that they have really long instrumental outros where you can't sing so you just have to stand up there and dance around or something until the song is over and it's uncomfortable for everyone involved. If you ever find yourself in this situation, it turns out that the best thing you can do is to...

karaoke
Then a couple of songs later, Lisa and her friend (Lisa, what's her name?) did a duet together.
karaoke
Awwww, look how cute and smiley the two of them were!
karaoke
Trying to hit the notes that Sebastian Bach (not his real name, btw) hits in that song is no easy feat. And it forces you to make awesome faces when you sing. Like this!
karaoke
And this!
karaoke
...was I Remember You by Skid Row!
karaoke
Lisa's first jam of the night....
karaoke
...and totally destroyed something by Heart (was it Alone?).
karaoke
Amanda got and the mic...
karaoke
This guy's name is Michael Scheiner and he is the new karaoke king of New York City as far as I'm concerned. He always sings old Prince jams or songs by Mary J (for seriously) and blows the doors off them every time.
karaoke
Chris on the mic!
karaoke
...enjoying this handsome man's rendering of a tender, tender soft-metal ballad. (Something by Whitesnake, perhaps?)
karaoke
A couple of weeks after moving to New York, the two of them moved up to Canada and got married! Congrats, you two!
karaoke
...we moved the party over to Pianos for some karaoke. Here's Grant and Aki getting ready to sing a duet!
karaoke
Monday Night at 2am = KARAOKE KILLED THE CAT. Here's Chris and Lord Easy kicking it.
karaoke
The guy started out doing a sexy duet with the blond lady, but about halfway through the song, it turned into...
karaoke
...a sexy solo serenade to a stranger in the crowd. E-P-I-C.
karaoke
Amanda getting sultry.
karaoke
This guy! (Btw, what in the world is he even singing into? Did he bring a homemade Burryberry-fabric cozy for the mic? Did that actually happen?)
karaoke
They're weren't too many people there on this particular night, but every single person that was there totally gave crazy, over the top performances.
karaoke
But these two certainly weren't going to let a little falling face-first into the carpet dampen their karaoke party! When life hands you lemons, you make lemonade! And when your singing friend falls down during karaoke - you just mount their stomach and ride them like a cowboy while they hump the air underneath you! That's just what you do!
karaoke
...that she totally ate shit and fell before her jam even got going! Hahha.
karaoke
Next up! Inka and one of the twins! Inka ended up rocking out so hard during the intro to her song...
