Crossroads
buildings
I'm very curions about the process they used to determine which apartments have patios.
buildings
I'm always amazed at how even after just a few days out in the normal world, when you arrive at the Port Authority, the buildings seem unbelievably tall.
buildings
buildings
Lola Staar's Dreamland Roller Rink.
buildings
Worse fire escape ever.
buildings
View of the entryway from upstairs. Banana-town.
buildings
Amazing apartment building.
buildings
We drove my some crazy mega parking lot that had yellow lights on the way back to Quinn's.
buildings
Later that afternoon...
buildings
Check out the new Thom Mayne-designed Cooper Union building on Bowery. It's weird and wonderful.
buildings
Admiring the clouds on the walk home.
buildings
...then we walked downtown to Grand Street.
buildings
On Saturday I was in the Flatiron area to pick a few things for Valentine's day.

Coming down into Brooklyn.
buildings
I got outside and it was a perfect, "almost spring" evening.
buildings
Yodle's old offices were on 8th Ave and 40th Street and one side of our office windows faced the New York Times Building. We were working in the late afternoon when the relative quiet was disturbed by all sorts of sirens. We looked outside and saw a huge crowd and a bunch of fire and police vehicles gathering at the base of the building.
buildings
See the "Z" about halfway up the left-hand side of the building that's facing the camera? If you look just to the left of the "Z" you'll see a tiny white pixel. Do you know what that is?
buildings
...all the way zoomed in and...HEY WAIT A MINUTE! IS THAT A FUCKING GUY CLIMBING UP THE SIDE OF THE GOD-DAMN BUILDING?
buildings
Check out the gridlocked insanity on 8th Ave. Looks like they're filming a Hollywood disaster movie or something.
buildings
Apparently, unbeknown to us, earlier in the day, someone had climbed the other side of the NYT building and this was the SECOND free-climber to scale the same building in a several-hour span!
buildings
A little more zoom...
buildings
How about I zoom in a little bit?
buildings
...and down to the ground. Neato.
buildings
The view across...
buildings
Apartment buildings on the outer edge of Cairo.
buildings
Made it back to my hotel a little after 3am local time. A good first day.
egypt: part one
March 16, 2008
buildings
Then afterwards, we ended up driving past some really nice, sprawling park that was sort of close to our hotel. So we parked the car and hung out on the grass...
buildings
With random architectural details you've never seen before (like these art deco topless Egyptian ladies, wtf?).
buildings
I mean sure there's all sorts of weirdo buildings that you've never seen before.
buildings
Traveling alone isn't very exciting.
buildings
Then I wandered outside the walled area of town and explored the old Soviet-Era industrial buildings (from 1944 until 1991, Estonia was part of the USSR) near the water (Tallinn sits right on the Gulf of Finland in the Baltic Sea).
buildings
I live in downtown Manhattan and "real deal" Chinatown, complete with crazy looks-like-you're-really-in-China buildings, is less than a five minute walk from my apt. I took this picture right before it started pouring rain in an attempt to capture the straight-outta-Ghostbusters sky.

On the way back to the subway we passed the Channel 4 building (which is a lot more interesting in person that this photo would lead you to believe).

Oh, and Fatty and I needed to try to find cheap pairs of "dressy shoes." On our way home from Greece we'd planned on going to Essex to visit where Grant grew up. He wanted to take us out on the town "Essex Style," but apparently they won't let you into any of the "clubs" in Essex if you're not wearing "dressy shoes." (And he explained that our "But we're from New York City!" protests probably wouldn't get us anywhere but the hospital).

After our meal had settled (and we'd finished molesting posters) we hopped on the tube and headed into downtown London to do some sightseeing.
