So I'm sitting home, minding my business (aka - probably dorking out on xBox) and I get a text from Gurj: "Karaoke! Me, Ellen and a buncha girls. 2nd & 2nd! Come now!" I mean, how could I turn that down? I threw on a coat, and in a matter of minutes I was there! Here's me with with Ellen and Gurj who'd had a few drinks and were primed from some 'roke!
As soon as they were finished singing, Gurj immediately whipped out the book to find another song to put in. She ended up going with Gwen Stefani's Holla Back Girl because during the chorus we all get to shout "Because I ain't no holla back....GURJ!" Hahahaha. After songs were selected, there was nothing to do but listen to other people sing, drink our drinks and, oh yeah...
After Madonna's set was over, the downstairs started to fill up so we retreated further back into the secret office and proceeded to hide out there until the bar cleared out a bit.
So a whole bunch of us headed to Misshapes to dance, but this was right around the time Misshapes started blowing up big time (Madonna ended up DJing there the following week) and when we got there, it was sooooo crowded that we said "fuck it" and decided to head across the street to the short-lived Movida. A way lamer time, but at least there was room for me and the gaggle of biddies I was with the shake our booties. Here's Gurj, Babbette (who I'd just met that night) Sarah, Jenne and Lauren.
Later that night, a whole bunch of us went to Orchard Bar to celebrate Gurj Bassi's birthday at the old Stolen Transmission party. Hahahah. Gurj, Karen & Sarah. This picture pretty much sums up all of the Orchard Bar Stolen Transmission parties. Man, they were fun.
