I don't know this gentleman, but his karaoke game (he's singing a jam from Phantom of the Opera) and his karaoke-face were both so strong, I had no choice but to take photos.
On Monday night around 11pm, I got a text from Gurj that her good friend Fran was in town from the UK and they were at 2nd on 2nd singing karaoke and that my presence was requested.
A little after 1am, Sarah came out to announce the winner (I don't even remember who it was!), thanked everyone for coming, and handing out some schweet schwag bags!
The next girl was wearing a teeny, tiny denim mini-skirt and what she lacked in vocal talent, she more than made up for with her expert "show the judges my crotch for an entire three minutes" skills. Hey, there's more than one way to win a karaoke competition! Nicely done!
Later on this girl went. She was only memorable for how completely off-key she managed to be for the entire song. Check out the DJ's face to her right. Hahah.
On Thursday night, I met up wtih Lisa (who looks like she was channeling Stevie Nicks during her "Indigenous Peoples of New Mexico" phase) and we kicked some late night karaoke jams at Winnie's.
I'm totally drawing a blank on this guy's name (Patrick? Daniel? Shit, I'm terrible), but he's super funny and he usually picks booty-shaking hip hop songs that are En Espanol.
Which everyone seemed to understand meant that anyone had the right to join the person that was performing and "help them out." Scott started off with a low-key assist, mostly taking over "pigeon necking" dance duties.
The next girl that sang wasn't with our group, but since it was now almost 3am and there were only two other people at the place besides our group, this is when the distinction between "us and them" broke down and we all became ONE DRUNK KARAOKE GROUP.
Naughty Girls (Need Love Too) by Samantha Foxx. (Which is exactly the kind of song you always want to sing at karaoke but never get to do until you're faced with a totally empty room and you can try out all sorts of new songs!).
