Mors sceptra ligonibus aequat
“Death makes sceptres and shovels equal.”

Mors vltima linea rerum
“Death, the final boundary of things.”

Divitiis flores, et maiorum nobilitate te iactas, et exsultas de pulchritudine corporis et honoribus qui tibi ab hominibus deferuntur. Respice te ipsum, quia mortalis es, et quia terra es, et in terram ibis.

“You flourish in wealth, and boast of the society of the great and powerful; you rejoice in the beauty of the body and the honours which men pay to you. Consider yourself, that you are mortal, that you are earth, and into the earth you shall go.”

I am a kinetic learning. Each time I do a tarot reading and pull a card I'm unfamiliar with, I write down its meaning in my journal and usual even draw a picture of the card. Getting to know you, death.

Happy October 2014! TIME IS RUNNING OUT!

Maddy took me into another nearby community garden on our walk and I admired...

Your craniotomy isn't complete until you've securely screwed the bone flap back into place! ("Bone flap" is the most made-up-sounding actual medical term).

You know how they have dummies at barber school and you practice cutting their hair? Well, it turns out they have something similar in brain surgery school! Proudly displayed on the living room shelf is a practice-skull where you can see some of Randy's early handiwork; practicing stitching-up the meninges. That's sure one tough mother!

Here's to ten years of Halloweens!

I like dressing up, but I don't really like all the planning and buying stuff that's involved in dressing up. So more often than not, I'll revert to a last-minute halloween costume with whatever's lying around.
skull
This year I used some white face paint and a mascara pencil to go as SKULL FACE!
skull
After I finished borrowing Ellen's eyeliner, she touched up her slutty 80s rocker make up!

On my way out, I ran into some little kids doing late night (12:30am!) trick or treating with their mom and they liked my make up so we stopped and took photos together. Zombie Ballerina!

After finishing the black part, I filled in the rest with some white grease paint...
skull
Then I got busy whipping together my own last-minute Halloween costume! I decided to make use of the awesome Cobra Kai t-shirt (sent to me courtesy of 80sTees.com) and dress up as Sweep the Leg Johnny! I grabbed one of Meredith's eyeliners (sorry!) and got to work!
skull
I made myself busy setting up all sorts of creepy/corny decorations on all the tables.

I decided to go a more traditional route and tried to draw the scariest skull face I could imagine.

Someone busted out a pen and with three simple lines, turned the toilet hinges into little skulls! Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

The skull you see in the background is usually bone dry. Gurj told me it was crying in honor of TAKING BACK SUNDAY! So emo it hurts!

Karen was lamenting that she didn't have any clothes that were more "piratey" (adjective of the year, BTW) so I offered to give her a piratey tattoo. Check out the bad-ass skull an' bones I managed to pull off!

...before racing over to the cases and posing for pictures with the skulls of bad-ass, martyred Cretans who blew themselves up in order to take out some Turks.
