We woke up on Saturday and it was STILL RAINING! In fact, it had been raining for so long that when we opened the door and stepped out onto our porch, the beach had completely disappeared and the ocean was just a couple of inches shy of overcoming the walkway and flooding our hut!
We woke up on Thursday morning to torrential rain. If you haven't ever been to Asia during the rainy season, there's really no way to describe just how hard it rains. If you were to step out in the rain and stand there for 2 or 3 seconds, you would be completely soaked and your shoes would even have some water in them!
After stopping back out our hostel and lazing around a bit, we wandered down the road a bit and ended up eating lunch at another hostel down the road that had a tiny little restaurant on a huge, sprawling porch that looked out onto the mountains.
These first few pictures are from the Fourth of July barbeque we had up at my house in Syracuse. A bunch of us all just hung out, ate good food and relaxed. From left to right: Amy looking like she has to poop, Evelyn, my girlfriend Jess, Mandy, and my Tom-Cruise-look-alikeroomate from last year, Chris.
