Friday morning I took the Fatty out for some delicous pad thai to thank him for helping me move, then I headed downtown to meet up with Niki so we could do some...
I met up for the traditional brunch with Fatty and Grant over at Theresa's on 2nd Ave. Here's Fatty with his new breakfast concoction, the JHam Sandwich. (Jam and ham, get it? Oh, you did? You were just too busy throwing up in your mouth? Ahh, I see.) *BURP*
Before you read the following story - take a good, long look at this photo. Ok, ready? So after finishing his lunch, Fatty goes to the bathroom when he comes out, he asks Liz and I "Hey, why can't you flush the toilet if there's a train in the station?"
Me: "Huh?" Fatty: "There's a sign hanging in the bathroom. It says "Don't flush if train is at station." Me: "Oh, well train toilets used to empty out onto the tracks so when a train was in the station, they didn't want people flushing the toilets which would cause the entire train station to reek like shit and piss." Fatty: "Really?" Me: "Yeah, it was like that back in the day." Fatty: "Huh, that's neat."
--thirty seconds of silence--
Fatty: "So wait, why can't you flush the toilets in here?"
I tried explaining that the sign was there because the entire restaurant was decorated in a "train motiff," but Fatty didn't believe me. He told us that after he'd peed, he kept looking out the window for a trainstation to see if there was a train in it. Hahaha. In the end, I had to call our waitress over and get her to corroborate my explanation.
We still managed to somehow get caught in rush hour traffic leaving the city and it took us like 2 hours to get 45 miles away. Slightly discouraged, we decided to get some roadside food. And Fatty decided to make the best face ever.
Awww, yeah - check tha setup! Awwww, look how cute Grant's mom is all displaying the food with the boys. (And be forewarned, anybody making remarks about Moms in the comments section will be promptly banned. In the words, of the Wise Fatty, "Dat shit ain' coo'!")
After spending too much money at the arcade (those pound coins certainly aren't US quarters) we went the the nearby "Under the Arches" restaurant and got our fish and chips (Because it's just not a shore experience until you've had something deep-fried).
Here's Fatty's "meat from three different animals with cheese" sandwich. He's going to put this pic up on JDate to subtly communicate to the ladies that he doesn't keep kosher. Bad Jew! Baaaad!
After fucking around for too long in Bali, we ended up having to make the 35 minute trip back to our condo at dusk (freezing our asses off the whole way). After dropping the bikes off and picking up our car, we headed to a nearby restaurant for an early dinner.
Seriously, what's better than lunch in Crete? Check out the apps: Two Greek salads, Spanakopita (flaky Greek phyllo dough filled with spinach and feta), and tzatziki (which is yogurt with olive oil, dill and more garlic that you've ever tasted in anything before ever). Soooooo fucking tasty. Holy shit, I almost just drooled on myself captioning this picture.
Oh, and somewhere along the way we decided that our 1/2 pound burgers and plates of fries just wouldn't be complete unless we each ordered a bowl of chili too.
Hahahaha. If Dave Fateman dies before me, I'm gonna make sure this is one of the pics they put on top of the coffin - because this one photo bascially sums up how Fatty's living his life.
