I was sick for almost a whole week! By Sunday I was feeling better. Meredith came over to hang out and to see Maddy. Someone fell asleep while wearing their hand-hat!
I walked down to our new apartment (just a few blocks away) to wait for the moving guys in the truck. At first, I couldn't find Meredith - then I climbed the ladder to our new loft and found her out cold on the plywood. Haha.
We're trying to train Maddy to stay out of the bed but it's really difficult because our bed is really low to the ground (and because she is really adorable). So ended our first month as married folks!
Meredith missed all the neck-mirror and night-cheese fun because she snuck away to TAKE A NAP AT THE PARTY! Haha. I sneaked into where she was sleeping and thought I was being all crafty when I snapped this picture...
Around 7pm I noticed that Meredith had gone done disappeared! After peeking my head into a couple of rooms I finally found her napping upstairs (with her tiny dino arm up in the air).
Twenty minutes into the ferry ride, and Meredith was totally sleeping. (I don't know how in the world she can fall asleep in the pretzelly shapes she does - but it never fails to amaze me)
We had to hike about 10 minutes down a super-steep mountain in order to get to where the waterfall basin was supposed to be. Before heading back up to our scooter, Meredith decided she needed to rest a bit...and then she FELL ASLEEP ON THE ROCKS. Hahaha.
On Friday morning I got up bright and early and sneaked out real quiet so that I could go on a two-dive trip that I'd booked the previous day. (PS - Sweet sleep-bandana, Axl).
Anyway, due to this misunderstanding, we had to try to sleep sitting up on a really bouncy train. Here's Meredith (who was already feeling totally sick) decked out with a sleep mask, ear plugs and our one inflatable neck pillow.
...and immediately went to bed! We'd hardly gotten any sleep the night before and figured a nice long nap might help get our bodies adjusted to local time.
After gorging ourselves, we still weren't tired (our internal clocks were all effed up!) Bernadette busted out the DVDs of the show How I Met Your Mother (which we'd never seen) and we stayed up late and watched a bunch of episodes. A little after 4am, this mouse passed out on the couch so I woke her (grumpy ass) up and we headed off to bed.
I came home from work on Thursday and found Meredith asleep on the couch like this. Hahaha. I guess she needed to recover from our big night of sugar, Sparks and movies.
Mexi Brunch + Margaritas = Sleepytime! (aka - The Best Photo of All Time). This is one of the photos that the longer you look at it, the funnier it gets.
I woke up bright and early on Thursday morning. Before waking Meredith up, I decided to take a few pics of how she sleeps: facedown, completely covered in blankets except for one leg (just one!) that she holds up in the air!
After a long day of the beach and then cooking in the kitchen, Mer passed out early! I woke her up from her little nappity nap, and then she and I took the train back up to NYC so that I could head to...
I woke up early on Saturday morning and went over to Meredith's to wake her up to go to the beach...but not before I snapped a few pics of her sleeping with her one leg up in the air. Hahaha. Then we met up with the Fatty and hopped the subway on out to...
I got home late to find my lovely lady sleeping in her favorite position (feet up in the air crossed at the ankles) and snuck into bed with her, happy to be home. As difficult as my trip was, it was also one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had - so if you have any interest at all, I highly recommend it. (Although, I found it very hard to keep up the expected practice once I returned to my normal life. According to the Vispassana way, you're supposed to meditate for at least two hours every day, and you're also supposed to abstain from all intoxicants. I managed to stick with the regiment for about 4 months before I stopped daily practice (and started boozing it up again).
On Tuesday night, Grant, Meredith, Jake and I went down to Amanda's apartment to watch a bunch of movies we'd rented. Meredith fell asleep and was spared.
When I'd come back to Meredith's apartment late at night, 90% of the time I'd find her like this - crashed the fuck out on her futon (with pillows to smoosh her!).
