The January Roundup: Part One

Here they are - all the pics from January that didn't merit their own entry but still deserve a lil' loving.

Saturday, January 1st

On Sunday I met for brunch with Emily's friend Marissa (and the guy she was dating at the time).

emily, me — Here's Em and I at the brunch table making cranky faces because it took over an hour to get a table at Essex and then another HOUR to get our food after we'd ordered.

It was insult to injury afterward when I met up with Meredith and she broke my winning streak by beating me at Scrabble. Boo.

meredith — Yes, fine. You're number one (for now).

Afterwards, I vegged out recovery-style at Grant's where we watched lotsa of TBS and gorged ourselves on snacks and Tecate.

amanda, me — Then late night, we met up with the lizzadies...

Sunday, January 2nd

sarah — On Sunday morning I had Mexi-brunch with the mini-mogul at La Palapa..

..then we went way uptown to see a movie at the Times Sq Megaplex. (Of course I read Star! Shhhh!)

meredith — When I'd come back to Meredith's apartment late at night, 90% of the time I'd find her like this - crashed the fuck out on her futon (with pillows to smoosh her!).

Drool spot! Hahaha.

Tuesday, January 4th

On Tuesday morning I took the train out to my parent's house in Jersey to meet the truck that was delivering all my worldly possessions from San Francisco.

The plan: Continue subletting my apartment in NYC, store all my stuff at my parent's house in NJ, spend the next 12 months traveling to different places around the world and crash at Meredith's apartment (You're the best!) when back in NYC in-between trips.

After unloading my stuff and having some dinner with the 'rents, I headed back into town and hit Ave C for...

Wednesday, January 5th

meredith — On Wednesday night, Meredith and I randomly decided to check out the late night stand up show at the Comedy Cellar.

This tall, scary guy (whose name, surprise, surprise, I forget) totally ruled the night.

We sat near the stage and for some reason every single comedian took time out of their routine to make comments about my hair. (WTF?) The last comedian of the night was Godfrey (self-proclaimed "star" of a few 7up commercials) who went so far as to call me up on stage as the "token white boy" that he tried his best to make look like a square...

Thursday, January 6th

nina — Thursday afternoon brought around the manditory quarterly lunch at Chipolte with Nina.

Tuesday, January 11th

fatty — On Tuesday I checked out the much-anticipated biography on David Fateman...

Afterwards, we went to Baramundi for a couple of drinks and it turns out that one of the bartenders there and her boyfriend both read this site. Read: FREE DRINKS! In a turn of incredibly bad luck though, it turns out that they were there to celebrate leaving the US and going to Australia (I think?). I told you that your pic would make it up here eventually! Hope the move went well!

The guy in the Yankees hat was her boyfriend who was moving away with her. Bye guys! Thanks for the shots! (FYI - they kicked off a serious night of drinking that ended up with me throwing up for the first time in like 10 years at 5am! Hahaha).

hue, me, sarah d, tiffany — Four or five shots deep (Don't do shots. Don't do shots!) I said goodbye to the birthday girl and crew and headed over to meet up with...

amy k, me — ...Amy K! Yay! While doing shots, I'd gotten a text from her that some serious karaoke was going down at Second and Second and I responded to that shit like Batman does to the Batsignal (the notable difference being that Batman doesn't usually turn up sha-sha-shitfaced).

Amy's friends were in karaoke full-effect.

Wednesday, January 12th

The super hot girl from The Pierces reminds me of Tara. (But maybe it's only because they share the same tastes in knitted hatwear. Hahaha).

matt l, meredith, sid and buddy — Wednesday night I paid a long overdue visit to Sid and Buddy's karaoke night at Remote Lounge (RIP).

jamie k, me — I ran into fellow karaoke over-enthusiast Jamie Kirkpatrick who I immediate photo-chastised for drinking a fucking Original Sin cider...wtf???

Not 10 minutes late he was killing with a cider-fueling passionate (yet tender!) rendering of Mr. Big's 80s love ballad, "To Be With You." Awww.

sid and buddy — I forget this girl's name - but she's awesome because no matter how many pics of her I take, she always ends up looking like a crazy homeless person in all of them.

Sleeping late means that I'd still be wide awake at like 6am in the morning. Rather than bother Meredith, usually I'd sit on her stoop for awhile chain smoking and listening to "trying to calm the fuck down" records and chain-smoking. And occasionally taking, "Whoa, I'm drunk," self-portraits like this one.
