Karla and Niki's trays of assorted goodies were a little unwieldy on the dance floor. Party was pretty fun... ...and regularly SLAYS crowds. There was a stage set up in Tompkins Square Park and Jessica Delfino (of "Don't Rape Me" fame) was playing. Thanks to Joann for putting together such an amazing party in our honor! We really appreciated the party and we had a wonderful time! The crowd. Later that night I went to some fashion week party to meet up with... Fireplace. The Horrors came out and played a set from their new record! ...and went to some Japanese bar in Flatiron for a night of Karaoke Killed the Cat karaoke with the one and only... Crazytown. When the show started, the ring-shaped video wall was lifted up into the air, revealing the circular stage behind it! The production was bananas. The circular stage was surrounded by a ring-shaped video wall. After seeing my parents off, I biked over to Union Square to meet up with Fatty to see the midnight release of District 9 . Sweaty dancing until late! Happy birthday, Leigh! The shuttle train had stopped running for some reason earlier in the afternoon and so you had to wait in a big line to take a bus to the subway. Nothing makes me happier than taking the subway to the beach. The beach they were at was considerably more crowded! We walked through the doors and it was like we'd magically been transported to Miami! The wedding guests settled in and waiting for the action. Marina stood right in front of the band so that they could dance together. Aw. Lips kept coming down off the stage and into the crowd to do guitar solos. Afterwards, everyone sang happy birthday to Andrew... Happy Birthday, Andrew! We had an awesome time! A little after 8pm, we said farewell and walked across town... Last year's hunt was in Brooklyn. This year the entire hunt was in the EV/Lower East Side. Everyone met up at Houston and Chrystie...Everyone in attendance scream-sang Happy Birthday... Nothing made me feel older than not-knowing that one of my favorite bands of all time (that hardly ever comes to the States to play) was playing a show right down the street. The show was amazing. Here's a photo of the "afterhours" party we went to in an abandoned building that got shut down about 20 minutes after it opened because a big fight broke out (that may or may not have been instigated by a drunk and belligerent Meredith! Ha!). ...headed back to the bar for the big dance party that was going on. People were still there shaking their bums.
