But it was so crowded inside that we lost track of Amanda and Grant. After 20 minutes of searching, Siege, Katie, Meredith and I decided to call it a night and head home.
With our costumes all finished, we walked out of my apartment door and were immediately met by this insane crowd of people. My apartment was on Market and 15th like two blocks from the heart of the Castro. Which means that Halloween in my neighborhood looks alot like...
See, it's just like Misshapes. Oh wait - except for the fact that there are NO GIRLS AL ALL! Seriously, this is what a straight bar in San Francisco looks like on a Saturday night. Have you ever seen such a writhing mass of dudedom in your life?
After excessively patting each other's back to help shake loose any potentially embarrassing "burger burps," we headed over to Rickshaw Stop to check out their Halloween party. Eh.
And it sorta was! The venue is tiny and the whole back area has all this foam stuff everywhere that makes the walls look like rock so it feels like you're in a cave.
What I lacked in technical proficiency, I made up for in balls to tha walls rock the fuck out tracks. Off the top of my head, a few of my choice jizzams of the night were:
Judy is a Punk - Screeching Weasel
I Don't Want to Grow Up - Descendents
Mustapha Dance - The Clash
Gimme Some More - Busta Rhymes
99 Red Balloon - 7 Seconds
Ready Steady Go - Generation X
Ever Fallen in Love - Buzzcocks
Dancing Machine - Jackson 5
Gloria - Laura Brannigan (of course!)
Dance Hall Music - Murder City Devils
Bombshell - Op Ivy
Mona Lisa - Slick Rick
Miss You - Rolling Stones
Rat Fink - Misfits
Maneater - Hall & Oates
and my personal fave...
Jump in the Line - Motherfucking Harry Belafonte
Mah-mah-mobscene! I always swear I'm going to watch a few of the bands, but then it's always so hot and crowded that I instead opt to stand on the boardwalk and people-watch...
Vince was supposed to play around 9ish so we got there around 8:30 - which we figured would be just enough time to warm up with a few free cocktails in the fancy VIP section that Sarah's rokk credentials scored us.
If you look real careful in the background you'll see naked ladies! Naked! After getting all sweaty, we wanted to go outside and get some air. Oh, and also to check up on our new friend Dave - who we found...
...same practically all of his friends sitting in Remote Lounge and smirking because they'd all just watched his friend Candy paddle him in his undies. Hahahaha.
We got to the Chance, showed off our cameras and said that we were there to cover the show for "a major music magazine." We were wisked in with no further questions asked.
After returning home and doing an hour of jumping jacks to ensure I'd exorcised the majority of my spicy thai burps, I met up with Vinay and we headed over to Misshapes.
I used to never go out on Saturday nights but the Misshapes party is always fun. It's pretty much only kids that are there to dance and have fun instead of just standing in the shadowy corners and acting sulky. Ok, actually there's a lot of that too, but at least it's occasionally punctuated with a move being busted.
...at the super exclusive Spin party being held at Stubbs. Despite being the DJ and the Emcee of the show, Sarah still managed to cordinate getting me a VIP pass and I breezed through the line with the quickness.
MAC had all these celebrity sponsors there, Boy George, Missy Elliot, Christina Aguilera, Linda Evangelista, etc. But they just sort of hid out in the corner and didn't intermingle (not that I can blame them). So instead of some hot celebrity akshun, here's a crowd shot. Yay.
