nerve

nerve
My very first job at Nerve (in May 2001) was selling advertising space in their short-lived print magazine! After holding on to a bunch of copies of all four issues of the magazine, I decided it was time to let them go.
nerve
The party started winding down around 11:30...
nerve
Me and Maureen! Wait, what's that I'm drinking?
nerve
...and we ran into Sarah Harrison (who I think was still working at Nerve at the time) with Maureen, Ben and Cat!
nerve
I headed over with Lisa and Pauly (I know they're standing in "Pauly and Lisa" order in this photo, but that just doesn't roll off the tongue quite as nicely)...
nerve
On the way home I stopped by former-employer Nerve to say hi to some old co-workers and check out Alisa's preggo belly!
nerve
...these two trouble makers. We'd agreed to help my friend Siege out with a photo project he was working on.
nerve
After the show, Grant chatted up some locals trying to get a line on where we should go next to find some hot, sexy action.
nerve
Here's the icon they ended up using on the front page. Saucy! Much love to Geordon, Leigh, Matty and Sarah for putting up with my pervy questions.

In a shocking turn of events (for the better), Grant left Nerve as a full-time editor to work on a freelance basis.

Here he is with Jenny Kijowski leaving the office with a box of stuff cleared off of his desk. (Partial list of said box: Tongue Joy, tongue mounted vibrator and attachments; Viagra sample pack; Penis extender weight kit with instructional video; Family pictures; CB2000 male chastity harness; AC/DC figurine and “ The Accommodator” chin-mounted dildo.)
nerve
On Wednesday, Grant and I got to the office only to find samples of some of the new merchandise Nerve.com is thinking of selling. Hmmm....Nerve.com trucker hats? And the verdict is?
nerve
Wah-wah. (INSERT TUBA NOISE HERE) Thumbs down!
nerve
Grant was very nervous about having to deliver a bunch of corny (and in some cases outright offensive) lines to a gaggle of models, so Carrie offered to help out by letting him practice them on her at the office. Check out Carrie feigning modelesque-indifference as she puffs her imaginary Gauloise.

Here are just a few of the choice lines he was rehearsing:
"I'm going outside to make out. Care to join me?"
"Honey, your dad doesn't have a penis. He's got a paintbrush!"
"You give me the hardest semi I have ever had."
"Hey baby, wanna go halfsies on a bastard child?"

And let's not forget my personal favorite:
"You are, by far, the most interesting piece of ass i've talked to all evening."

Yeah, all of a sudden his trepidation is starting to make a little more sense, right?
nerve
...put his huge nuts right next to John's face for this choice photo! Hahahaha.
nerve
As Grant and I were leaving the office for lunch, Grant went over to speak with John K., one of Nerve's programmers, who from behind appeared to be reading a book on the couch. Upon closer examination it was revealved that he was playing the old "taking a nap while pretending to read a book" trick. So after several failed to attempts to wake him (note the earplugs), Grant decided to not bother with the question and instead decided to...
nerve
Emma (and the book!) with Isabella Robertson (aka - Tookie).

I earned $50,000 from the National Enquirerer for capturing photographic evidence of Michael Martin's social life. Seriously, this guy's more elusive than the Yeti.

Nerve hosted the premiere for the movie "All the Real Girls." Here's Travis and Emma at the afterparty.
nerve
Sometimes you just gotta dance! Rufus does the watusi while Dave get shizzy in the background.
nerve
Not about to be upstaged by a non-employee, Alisa and Emma whipped out their boobies and repped for Nerve.
nerve
Keith, Virgina and (the rarely captured on film) Michael Martin.
nerve
So a few minutes after Alex made out with Noah, we noticed him hanging around Lisa - yet another intern. *gasp*
nerve
Haha. Rufus, Bibbins, Ayvee Deebee, Peter and me.
nerve
Bwa-hahahaha! Here's Grant surreptitiously giving Alex the ol' "Get a Load of This Guy" face for the cam. (Bonus points to the guy over Grant's right shoulder laying down the double-ironic "Who does this guy think he is making fun of that other guy" face. Ha!)
nerve
Albert and Abbey...
nerve
Well, the titty grab not only awoke Alex, apparently it also excited him. Uh-oh!
nerve
And then the next thing you know he's quasi-passed out (check out the open mouth - noice!) on Nerve intern Noa, who tried to resuscitate him with a firm grab of his titty.
nerve
From L to R: Lorelie, Tookie, Alisa, Grant and me
nerve
Tah-tah-toasted!
nerve
Early evening at Pierot. The free booze was flowing like mud at this point so a few us told the bartenter to just keep putting shots of vodka on the bar and we started passing them out throughout the party. Things go ugly quick.
nerve
Here's my reaction shot with Lisa after she had finished lip-wrassling with Mr. M.
nerve
Besides Alisa and Rufus, I have no idea who these other people are. I still think it's a nice picutre though, don't you? (If you know who they are you can always email me and tell me). UPDATE: Thanks to Emma & Alisa, the strangers have been identified! The Wolverine-looking guy next to Alisa is novelist Bruno Maddox, next to him is editor Sarah Flack and next to Rufus is Michael Kovnat.
nerve
BC, BB, and D-Rok. See? Look at how wholesome (and sober) we are!
nerve
It really did start out innocently. I swear!
nerve
Tookie, Ted Hope - head of Good Machine, and Alisa V. (of Howard Stern make-out notoriety).
nerve
Sujay shakes hands with Rufus, who when this photo was drunkenly telling Sujay he saw Beliefnet (Sujay's employer), "taking off like a beautiful bird." Ha!
nerve
This was the line for the bar. Total free-for-all.
nerve
Mike, Eileen, Tookie's eye, Lo and me.
nerve
Chambers, Bibbins, Alisa.
nerve
Amazing.
nerve
Rufus represents on the party-shirt tip.
nerve
3:45am survivors: Evan (Editor in Chief, CEO of Nerve and all around authority of Ladies), Alisa, Squinty Rufus (Nerve intern), Emma & me.
nerve
Emma, Alisa, me with mouth open (third time's a charm, sugar).
nerve
Me, Poet/Bitch Ross Martin & Melly-Mel K hiding her drunken, shameful face!
nerve
The rest of the crowd in the living room.
nerve
Fast-forward five days to Thursday. The show is being re-aired for the third time in a week and this time we gathered at the swank digs of Tony Meyer (lead Spring Street investor and all around macking pimp...seriously, this guy puts Bruce Wayne to shame).
nerve
I had been in bed sick for a week, but I was going to be damned if I missed gathering with my co-workers at Nerve's swanky SoHo offices to watch the first ever airing on Saturday the 19th.
