Later that night, we had a dinner on my parents porch and my mom brough out a birthday cake for me. She forgot to get birthday candles, so instead she substituted this 18" decorative candle that she found unused in a candlestick on the kitchen table. Hahaha.
Then later that afternoon, Sarah and I went to TeaNY to pick up Leigh's cake for her bday party later that night at Misshapes (those pics coming soon). Before we bought her a whole cake, we decided it'd probably be wise (ok, delicious) to sample a slice first.
Siege's mom sent up this King Cake from New Orleans. Every King Cake has a little plastic baby baked into it (which leads me to believe you can't be sued for negligence in the state of Louisiana) - if you get the piece of cake that has the baby - you win a prize. And in the case of Siege's birthday party, that prize would be a lapdance from the girl of your choice at...drumroll please...
The walk home from dinner was surreal. The city was almost completely dark yet the city streets were mobbed with people. More specifically, people yelling and shouting and drinking smoking. Way too overtired to be dealing with the hippy-jamesqe nonsense that was starting to brew - I decided to pack it in early. The pastry shop right next to the entrance to my apartment had set up on the streets and were selling all their treats for fifty cents a piece (trying to get rid of them before they spoiled)!
Right after I arrived at John and Lori's, my Uncle Walt and Aunt Ann (who live ten minutes from Asbury) were kind enough to pick me up to head down to Medford, NJ to go to my cousin Steve's graduation party. (He just finished up at Virginia Tech.)
Fatty, being pretty much the nicest, most thoughtful person you're likely to ever meet, brought a housewarming cake from the bakery around the corner from his place.
After getting a little drunk, he headed over to Kate's Corner from some vegan deliciousness. Emily makes a wish over a peice of cheese-less cheesecake.
The next week it was Rob's birthday and a bunch of us took the photo of him doing "The Sprinkler" and got it turned into one of those awesome photo-cakes for his birthday!. (Rob used to be my boss' boss, then after Tony left, he became my boss).
