Christmas 1987 - my brother and I freaking out about getting the long-awaited PHANTASY STAR for the Sega Master System. This was the first RPG I ever got into and it exploded both of our brains!
A couple days after the party, we all received an email from him with a link to a surprise video he'd edited together with all the clandestine hula hooping video he'd shot. It. Is. Amazing. My favorite part is the highlight reel of everyone throwing their hands up and leaning that starts around the 1:45 minute mark (right after Siege does the "white man's overbite") and just keeps getting better. (PS - Make sure you check out Ellen's sideways "tit-sway" at 2:14. Amazing.)
Before hitting the rides, my little brother and me decided to warm up first by playing a little Dance Dance Revolution (which was a bold choice on our part considering it was daylight and the machine was outside). Check out my little dancin' dino arm!
In order to move around in the game I was playing, you had to spin around with that thing on your had (which makes you look like a huge jackass - but hey, it's virtual fucking reality, dude! I might be a dork, but I'm a dork that just saved your palsy ass from INVADING GERMANS!). Unbeknownst to me at the time, Heather kept grabbing hold of the helmet and making it harder for me to move around. Very funny...YOU JERK! (Actually, it was really funny. I remember playing the game and almost breaking my neck trying to move the controller around thinking "Wow, this game is hard! It's like I'm actually having to move a real gun turret!)
