dogs
Later that night we emailed Leigh the picture of the dogs we met and she texted us this photos of the hounds back in NYC. Haha.
dogs
Aw, you're pretty good too, tiny buddy.
dogs
The good news was that they people had two really cute dogs that we made friends with. This guy...
dogs
Check out that grill, dawg! Hahaha. Soooo good.
dogs
Giving kisses.
dogs
...and this guy! This greyhound was a racing track rescue who was so sweet and friendly!
dogs
Dogs, in general, aren't big fans of rock shows.
dogs
We were dogsitting Edie so there were plenty of doogs to go around.
dogs
On Saturday afternoon my parents came into town to see our honeymoon photos and have dinner.
dogs
Leigh explained this to us and then demonstrated. "See? Stackable hounds!" Hahaha.
dogs
Leigh's building has a lot of stairs. The dogs can climb UP stairs, but they have trouble descending steep stairs and need to be carried down them (because of their midgety legs and long wienery bodies). Turns out that the easiest way to get both dogs downstairs for a walk is TO STACK THEM!
dogs
...to pick up Maddy! Leigh and Scott had graciously agreed to watch our hound for us while we were away getting married on on our honeymoon!
dogs
This spotted lady came out of the shadows to say hi. She was really interested in our food, but was a wild beach dog and was too scared of us to come much closer.

dogs
Not chewing wire or shoe. Just bone.
dogs
Dog park.
dogs
On Saturday morning, we took Maddy uptown to the animal hospital and dropped her off to get fixed. We took the dachshund painted on the doorway as a good omen.
dogs
Afterwards, we went and got soft serve ice cream. Meredith made friends with the dog Pauly was dog-sitting.
dogs
Dog buds.
dogs
On Sunday morning we put the dogs in bags (no cages but bags are ok!)...
dogs
Requires two bones.
dogs
Edie prefers to referee.
dogs
KILL IT ON THE NECK!
dogs
Wiener parade!
dogs
Smoker's Bench.
dogs
They also brought along their boxer Duke, who regarded the wieners suspiciously. I'm a dog, what are you guys?
dogs
Brett and Amy drove up from Washington DC with THEIR wiener dog, Teddy!
dogs
Three-wiener party!
dogs
Watering the hounds.
dogs
On Thursday night after work, we loaded this critter into her crate (Maddy HATE a crate!) and headed to Penn Station to catch the NJ Transit train to spend the holiday weekend with my family!
dogs
Couch doogs.
dogs
These two guys even nap together all the time. Such buds.
dogs
Badger dogs!
dogs
This is how Maddy likes to lounge in my lap when I read.
dogs
Edie doing some chin-sniffing at the dog park.
dogs
Haha.
dogs
All wiener dogs are always so excited to see other wiener dogs. They always run across the park to investigate.
dogs
...but not without making all sorts of accidentally ridiculous faces. Like this!
dogs
And this! Hahaha.
dogs
Maddy is just starting to get the hang of how to chew puppy kibble. She can sort of do it...
dogs
Look who was waiting for me when I got home in the middle of the night. Awwww. A North American Silky-haired Bed-Weasel!
dogs
...Edie did her impression of Triumph, The Insult Comic Dog! She even had a little piece of rawhide for a cigar. Spot on!
dogs
My absolute favorite photo of Edie and Maddy. Awwww.
dogs
Yes, hello? Us?
dogs
Check out these dog-buds. Chilling.
dogs
DOWN HOUND!
dogs
Hahaha. Let me taste that delicious nose of yours!
dogs
Funnily enough, I don't think this is the first time he's had two wieners in his face! Ba-dum-cha!
dogs
Aww.
dogs
...and Maddy had rolled herself up like a taco.
dogs
I went into my office in the evening and found both of the dogs burrowing into the comforter on the couch.
dogs
Edie had her face tucked under the edge...
dogs
These two were very interested in the smell of frying falafel. Mmmm.
dogs
Happy April 2009!
dogs
Squinty.
dogs
Total buddies.
dogs
We arrived back at the apartment to find these two curled up in the afternoon sun.
dogs
This is probably true of most breeds, but daschunds really love other daschunds.
dogs
We saw a dog with the same coat as Maddy.
dogs
Then we fell in love with a daschund puppy that had a "blue" coat. So adorable.
dogs
Wiener dogs on the move.
dogs
Hahaha. It's a dog in a bag! (Sung to the tune of Dick in a Box).
dogs
So much awesome in my living room it's unbelievable. Just a basic Wednesday night hang.
dogs
You literally can't have a bad day with these guys around.
dogs
Three clean noses!
dogs
No, I ATTACK YOU!
dogs
I ATTACK YOU!
dogs
Ten hours later and they're still at it. Although, they moved the BATTLE ARENA to the much larger couch.
dogs
Ear cleanse deluxe! No charge for you!
dogs
Nose licking retaliation.
dogs
BAP! Stubby brass paw to the ear!
dogs
When these two fight, they make weird honking noises and if you were in the other room you would think it was geese and not dogs. Total weirdos.
dogs
Hahaha. This photo makes me laugh out loud. (I also like how there's a rat in the background.)
dogs
Back at the apartment later that night, we snuggled with dogs...
dogs
Aw, really?
dogs
On my way out the apartment on Monday morning I walked into the living room and these two were just sitting on the couch like this side by side. Total buds.
dogs
Edie was there too. It was a regular dog party.
dogs
Later that evening, Meredith's friend Blair came over with his new puppy!
dogs
Hahaha. Maddy was like "I'm a dog! What are you?"
dogs
Look, she's one of you guys!
dogs
On Sunday we took the dogs to the dog park together for the first time!
dogs
Biggest lap dog ever!
dogs
I love how her stupid feet go in opposite directions. Landing gear up, please.
dogs
Look at how Maddy used to fall asleep! All balled up light a little speckled hedgehog.
dogs
Such winning hounds.
dogs
Speckly pals.
dogs
...and then they settled in together.
dogs
I love how Maddy looks like she's sitting in a little hand-seat. Hahaha.
dogs
Edie turned in circles padding the bed down...
dogs
Puppy kisses are the best.
dogs
I told Leigh that Edie and Maddy had become buds in her absence and put the dog-bed on the couch to demonstrate.
dogs
Puppy bellies!
dogs
Later that evening, Ellen brought Piper over to meet Maddy.
dogs
It took her all of about 10 minutes to use her razor sharp puppy teeth (and tiny puppy raptor claws!) to create a puppy-sized hole in the gate's mesh that she could easily wriggle her way through! Most adorable jailbreak ever!
dogs
Aw, really?
dogs
She was so cold when we got her back inside that we had to wrap her up in a towel-nest.
dogs
The world's tiniest bean feel asleep with her little chinny-chin our our Meredith's lap like this.
dogs
Tiny dog in a pink shirt!
dogs
Taking the doogs out for their first walk together in the Stuytown courtyard.
dogs
Dog friends?
dogs
...and was surprised to find that Edie (who you can see has her dog-toenails painted!) considered my lap off-limits to Maddy. Haha. MY LAP!
