Super big thanks to Sarah and Leigh for playing wonderful music all night! It was like getting to hear the Traveling Wilburys of the NYC's downtown DJs!
It's after 4am at this point, and in the midst of Leigh and Sarah getting ready to pack up their stuff, Jenny ran into the dj booth and started busting out her cans again!
A couple minutes later we're up six people (seven if you count THE LURKER in the corner). Check out Jenny Penny popping out a, uhhh, valentine for Marisa. (And is that Paul Hanley in the hoodie?)
On Friday night I went over to Angels & Kings (which has since been shuttered because they got busted serving drinks to underage kiddies!) to say hi to Brandon who was DJing there. I arrived and found Andy and Sarah in the booth with him.
...and then headed over to Angels & Kings in the East Village to visit Sarah, Karen and Brandon. Right after I snapped this picture, I dropped my brand new camera and broke the lens-protector! So that the next time I took a photo...
Sarah and Karen manning the sound system. By the way, these next two photos are my favorite photos of Karen and Sarah. If you know either of them, they pretty much don't even need captions.
After getting our pre-game on, we headed over to Orchard Bar for a Sara and Karen-fueled dance party! (Aw man, remember how fun Thursdays at the Orchard used to be? Boooo!).
Sarah and Karen were DJing and someone introduced me to Karen as "Billy Ray" and told her that she'd lost her virginity to me. I talked to Karen as Billy Ray for like three or four minutes before she was like, "Have we met before? You seem...really...familiar....OH MY GOD BRIAN I HATE YOU!" Hahaha. Granted, it was dark in there!
With the exception of an upcoming photo where Sarah is pouring an entire beer out on her own head, this is my favorite picture of her. Talking, smoking, drinking, DJing, pimping.
Sarah was there to DJ - or "play CDs" as she now says (as she's tired of defending herself to morons who take time out of their incredibly important days to write her lengthy, venomous (and of course anonymous) notes explaining why she's not a "real" DJ).
Turns out that the brand new party Sarah was DJing was the the very first of the now legendary MisShapes party. We got there just in time to catch the last of Sarah's first set. Here's Sarah with Geordon.
