Last Month in NYC: The August Roundup Part Two

Here's part two of the August Roundup.

Monday, August 16th

niki, sarah
On Monday night, I went with Sarah, Niki and Karen (not pictured here) to the Bowery Ballroom to see...
...The Killers.
sarah
Sarah's all tight with them and shit (they played her prom party, remember?!?) so after the show we got to go backstage and hang out (which was pretty neat-o). Karen, Sarah and Brandon.
mandy
Mandy and Andrew.
me
Me hiding trying to hide the fact that "being backstage" at any show still makes me giddy like a schoolgirl.
gina bonjersey, michael
Smells-Good Gina and Michael.
Hahahaha.
sarah
Sarah took off her razor blade necklace and used it to...
sarah
...slice open fruits! (No, seriously.)
After the show, Karen and I stopped to marvel (ok, and pose) with this amazing/confusing billboard. Maybe all those Neo-Nazis will finally cut the shit when they realize they're also alienating butch-lesbian Catholic priests with all their hate. (Wait, huh?)
me
Boobies!
nips ˆ sign ˆ me
Hahaha.
It's ok, people. She's a Jew.

Then we re-met up with this one (I will smoosh her face) and went over to Milk and Honey.

Tuesday, August 17th

me
While packing my room up on Tuesday, I came across this crazy-ass Israeli bio-warfare mask I'd purchased from an army surplus store back in 2000 to use when had to sand the old paint off the walls of the loft we converted in Brooklyn.
mask ˆ me
me, vin
I tried to get Vin to wear it for a picture and he was like "No way, if anyone sees a picture of a brown guy in a bio-warfare mask, the terror alert status is going to increase. Fuck that." Hahahaha.

Later that night I went over to Ludlow St. and ran into Karen.
me
And we took "I'm not going to see you for a long time" going away pics. Aw.
Then this random British guy (who apparently lives in the building nextdoor to me on Bowery) showed up and wanted to get in on the action all "party boy" style. Nice!

herman the cat
On Thursday night I spent a half an hour trying to get my roommate's cat Herman to cooperate for a photo shoot. (I wanted to get a picture of him to put on the photo collage for the invite to my going away party). Take 1: too blurry.
herman the cat
Take 7: Too squirmy.

Take 14: Too Third Reich.

Take 27: Too squinty. Hahaha.

Later Thursday night I met up with Amy and went over to the Delancey for some party.
amber, amy k
Inside, we ran into the lovely Amber.
amber, amy k
You found out...I've got a. crush. on. you.
amber, me
Super smiley.

Amy made the mistake of saying "I'm like the only one of your friends that isn't on your website with your nutsack all in my face."

Friday, August 20th

On Friday, Grizzle and I took the F train so I could bid farewell to Coney Island. Mmmm, corndogs. (Eight days until leaving for San Francisco).
grant, me
And funnel cake.

Later that night, my good friend Doug rolled into town from Boston (after having just returned from two years living in Prague).
doug
I hadn't seen this guy since he broke stuff on the street back on Halloween of 2002! We shot the shit and caught up for a while...
herman the cat
...laughed at my roommate's retarded, weirdo cat all passed the fuck out on his back...

Later that evening, Tinz came over to pick me up and take me over to my last MIsshapes Saturday!

Monday, August 23rd

doug, grant
On Monday morning, Grant, Doug and I went to Mandarin Court down in Chinatown for a dim sum breakfast...
doug
...then Doug and I took the NJ Transit train down to Sea Side Heights to meet up with my buddy Scott who was down there on vacation with his sister and his two kids. Here's Doug crashed out on the train with his sleepy seatmate.
doug
And here he is a few minutes later trying to knock the camera out of my hand after he suddenly woke up when I giggled too loud while leaning in close to take another "sleepy guy" photo.
doug, scott
We met up with Scott, drank a few beers at his vacation house, hit White Castle and then hit...
...THE SEASIDE HEIGHTS BOARDWALK! Awwwwww, yeah!
Damn girl, you's a one of a kind lady. Know what I'm saying?
doug, me
Jersey Beef in the house.

Wednesday, August 25th

With T-Minus four days until my big move to SF, I headed out to Clark, NJ to have dinner at my Grandparents and say goodbye. Here's me and my mom with G-ma and G-pa.

charlene, fatty, grant, leigh
On Thursday night (T-minus three days!) my roommate Victoria cooked a nice dinner and invited some of my friends over for a low-key dinner party. Here's The Fatty, Tinnz, Charlene and Grant (Sarah was there later on!)
herman the cat, jake b
Jake (the guy getting ready to move into my apartment) came over to try and bond with Herman.
me
The mover's had already come and taken all of my stuff (to California!). Meredith was out of town for the weekend and was nice enough to lend me her apartment.

Friday, August 27th

T-minus one day. All packed up and feeling nervous, I opted for a little escapism and went to see an afternoon movie with Grant and Leigh. On the way out, Grant and Leigh both took their turn being the "seed of Chucky."
leigh
Hahahah.
After the movie, Leigh came over and helped me clean up my place and pack up the few things that the movers hadn't taken. My almost-empty bedroom. Sad!
leigh
Okay, to be perfectly honest with you, Leigh hardly helped pack or clean at all. However, she did put on lip gloss and...
leigh
...pulled sexy poses while modeling some of my clothes that I was throwing away. Hahaha.
Then late Friday night I went to some crazy-ass roof party that set up a giant tarp to be used as a Slip N' Side (or "WetBanana," if you prefer). (By the way, while Googling "wet banana" just now looking for fun pics, I found the US Consumer Product Safety Commission which had the following to say about WHAM-O Brand Backyard Water Slides:

WASHINGTON, DC -- Kransco Group Companies and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) warn consumers that WHAM-O backyard water slides, manufactured by Kransco and WHAM-O for years as popular summertime toys for children, should NOT be used by adults or teenagers. The toys were designed for use by children only. Use by adults and teens has the potential to result in neck injury and paralysis.

Because of their weight and height, adults and teenagers who dive onto the water slide may hit and abruptly stop in such a way that could cause permanent spinal cord injury, resulting in quadriplegia or paraplegia. The slider's forward momentum drives the body into the neck and compresses the spinal cord.
Sweet, sweet spinal-injury risk!
Haha. Nothing worse than sliding at 20mph and runnin' out o' tarp. Ouch.
Dead man sliding!

Yay, spinal cord injury!
