We walked all the way over to Fort Tilden beach and checked out the sandy pathways... We went into town and had a late dinner on the beach with Bertl & Fraggle. Haha. ...we ran into pack of beach puppies! Meredith and Amanda out in the unreal, bath-warm water. After a nap back at the hotel, we climbed through the fence so that we could walk along the beach... On Wednesday afternoon, Ellen came out to visit and hit the beach! We took the pooch for a nice long beach walk... We hit the beach early on Saturday. I would love to have close by tonight! We played Such a Thing. ...but it was also REALLY windy. Look how much sand the wind was throwing! It felt like we were getting sand blasted... It was really hot and sunny... Beachjers. Getting ready to pack it up. Beach bunnies. It's especially empty... There! Perfect. Big fan of this one. Very post-modern. Somersaults and... ...sand dives! Peter Pan? Haha. CHICKEN FIGHT! When these two get rambunctious, look out! Babe sandwich. Cat arrived a little after 2pm! ...time to head back! Double-fisting treats! <3 During low tide, we decided to explore the beach in the other direction. ...the beach! Breaking out the beach sweater! I love this picture! Thanks for being my boo, boo. No better birthday present than perfect beach-weather! Pinchy! Gurj rolled over and realized her wet bathing suit made a happy face. Haha. So much blanket real estate. The beach was practically empty this time around! <3 Sand kicks. Bonus points for Jared's AIR JORDAN! All-star jump cast. Three photos in under 30 seconds! Beach blanket capes. We were hoping for a little more wind. Does it still count as leering if it's your wife? We packed up our things a little before four. Sun naps. Squinty. It was a perfect day and the beach was practically deserted! Later that evening, Meredith and I decided to walk east along the beach and visit the Pura Pulaki, the nearby Hindi temple famous for being overrun.. After breakfast, we relaxed in lounge chairs on the beach... Around 6pm we decided to pack it in for the day. ...Far Rockaway Beach 60th Street! Mer and me. The beach! We got slices on the boardwalk. We packed up around 6. Mer. The tide started coming in around 4:30 and I dug a "preventative trench" to protect our towels from the encroaching seawater. I had to cheat and use the camera to shadow my eyes. Haha. My eyes are so sensitive to light that it's hard for me to not squint even with my eyes closed! Shoes off! Once more with Bob falling down! Jump shot! Sandy dance party. Me with the other future-Mrs-Battjer (getting married in 7 months! Eeep!) 7 out of 10! A couple minutes later, the rest of our group returned from a walk and decided to get in the mix. Going for 10! 5 out of 7! Getting there! 3 out of 7. 300% improvement! The larger your group is, the more difficult it is to capture everyone's feet in the air when you're taking a jumping photo. 1 out of 7 = FAIL! Oh, summer. Take three! If you squint, it looks like they're spelling out S-H-I-T! Take two. Beach Jump! My skin feels like red. Take Four is my favorite! Everyone's doing their own thing. Take Three! Meredith got tangled up in her cape. Haha. Got your cape all tied on? Good! It's time for.... Take Two. Total FAIL. Take One: Gurj, Scott and Amanda have amazing form in this pic. Sarah, however, failed to achieve lift off. At the beach we met up with Amanda and Scott! Handsome beach kids. ...we hit the beach. Check out my hot-pink sunburned chest. That's what happens when I try to go to the beach before 2pm! Homestretch! VICTORY IS OURS! Faisal was nice enough to take this photo of the four of us together, so I returned the favor by taking a photo... We ate fruit. Sunday was the last full day of our vacation (Boo!). We relaxed around the resort, and then later that afternoon, drove around to the very southeast corner of the island to read and relax on one of the (totally deserted!) public beaches. Look to the right...not another person in sight! We both read and swam and then Meredith did some shell collecting.
