And for having for having such an accommodating lap. This is such a next level move to be casually driving around with two dogs on your lap. Hahah.

...make a new travel buddy! Like this sleepy little abuela who spent most of the bus ride bouncing her tiny snoozing noggin against my shoulder. Haha. Adorable.

By the early afternoon, we were back in NYC and crossing over the bridge on our way over to Caiti's apartment to pick up Maddy!

...nine-and-a-half hour drive through the desolate and hauntingly lovely pine barrens of Florida! We made it back to my parents place a little before 1am and went right to sleep.

For most of the week, we'd been surfing a small beach-break right out front of the camp. On Tuesday morning, we woke up early to travel to a bigger break. I remember taking this photo so clearly. The windows were down, we were on a dirt road, the stereo was cranked playing The Ocean by Led Zep, the morning sun had just broken over the mountaintops.

On Tuesday morning, we took a day off from surfing (to rest our sore bodies and bruised bellies!) and took a ride into the nearby city of Leon for the day.

...onto a super-narrow local road. Most of the roads that wound up through the mountains were this wide. It doesn't look too scary here, but imagine having a 1,000 foot drop to your left and trying to share it with oncoming trucks whizzing around blind corners.

After passing through this gate, we turned off the main northern road, and made a right...

Locals told me the statue is nicknamed BIG BUTTER JESUS because it looks like it's sculpted out of butter. Haha. I just looked the statue's Wikipedia entry and get this: "On June 15, 2010 the statue was struck by lightning and suffered major damage in the resulting blaze. The statue was sculpted using a thin skin of fiberglass over a flammable styrofoam interior stabilized by a metal frame, and the fire left only its internal metal structure." On the ride home we were glad to see that they finally installed a word of warning for any ladies that might be following us back to our place for a romp.

I was trying to take a video of us rocking out but took a picture instead and managed to capture us in the midst of some pretty serious MetalFaces (check out Fatty pretending to play kit in the background with his DrummerFAce in full effect. Hahaha).

Before heading out of town, Sarah and I went joyriding in the pimpmobile one last time (and I snapped this amazing photo of her as we drove past some WWII airplane monument - it's one of my favoritest pics of all time).
