Amalia and Rhubarb! ...we brought Maddy to the dog park and it was a total dachshund speckle-fest. There were THREE other dappled mini-dachshunds including... After, they came back to our place and played with the hounds. Edie and Maddy are almost the same size and they look like negatives of each other! Later that night Edie got dropped off at our place! Haha. It's hard to look cool when you've got a nose dribble, Edie. Hounds in shades! Edie loves a bag so much that if you open the top she'll jump right in. Pull up a box and relax, Edie! Awwww, tiny nuzzler. We stuffed the dogs in bags... Yes? Zoe the dog was there! I hung out with Charlie the dog for a bit... Enjoying my risotto four-dogs deep with Charlie, Biggy, Maddy and Piper. Haha. Double-stacked buddies. Haha. Back home. ...Maddy's brother Ralphie! On Saturday we were dogsitting Amber's dog, Charlie. Ellen came over to add Piper to the dog mix. Edie came too. Hallway dog-fight! Met up with Scott and Edie in the dog park that afternoon. Maddy's blue-dappled buddy. Dog-centric day. These two were on dropped pizza-topping patrol. Ok, and maybe also a pair of shades too. Buds. Maddy came in and crashed the party. She has puppy power and Edie doesn't have the energy to keep up with her. Wrassling. WHY U NO SHARE? Matt and Biggy came over for a hang. Later that night we emailed Leigh the picture of the dogs we met and she texted us this photos of the hounds back in NYC. Haha. Aw, you're pretty good too, tiny buddy. The good news was that they people had two really cute dogs that we made friends with. This guy... Check out that grill, dawg! Hahaha. Soooo good. Giving kisses. ...and this guy! This greyhound was a racing track rescue who was so sweet and friendly! Dogs, in general, aren't big fans of rock shows. We were dogsitting Edie so there were plenty of doogs to go around. On Saturday afternoon my parents came into town to see our honeymoon photos and have dinner. Leigh explained this to us and then demonstrated. "See? Stackable hounds!" Hahaha. Leigh's building has a lot of stairs. The dogs can climb UP stairs, but they have trouble descending steep stairs and need to be carried down them (because of their midgety legs and long wienery bodies). Turns out that the easiest way to get both dogs downstairs for a walk is TO STACK THEM! ...to pick up Maddy! Leigh and Scott had graciously agreed to watch our hound for us while we were away getting married on on our honeymoon ! This spotted lady came out of the shadows to say hi. She was really interested in our food, but was a wild beach dog and was too scared of us to come much closer. Not chewing wire or shoe. Just bone. Dog park. On Saturday morning, we took Maddy uptown to the animal hospital and dropped her off to get fixed. We took the dachshund painted on the doorway as a good omen. Afterwards, we went and got soft serve ice cream. Meredith made friends with the dog Pauly was dog-sitting. Dog buds. On Sunday morning we put the dogs in bags (no cages but bags are ok!)... Requires two bones. Edie prefers to referee. KILL IT ON THE NECK! Wiener parade! Smoker's Bench. They also brought along their boxer Duke, who regarded the wieners suspiciously. I'm a dog, what are you guys? Brett and Amy drove up from Washington DC with THEIR wiener dog, Teddy! Three-wiener party! Watering the hounds. On Thursday night after work, we loaded this critter into her crate (Maddy HATE a crate!) and headed to Penn Station to catch the NJ Transit train to spend the holiday weekend with my family! All wiener dogs are always so excited to see other wiener dogs. They always run across the park to investigate. ...but not without making all sorts of accidentally ridiculous faces. Like this! And this! Hahaha. Maddy is just starting to get the hang of how to chew puppy kibble. She can sort of do it... Look who was waiting for me when I got home in the middle of the night. Awwww. A North American Silky-haired Bed-Weasel! ...Edie did her impression of Triumph, The Insult Comic Dog! She even had a little piece of rawhide for a cigar. Spot on! Funnily enough, I don't think this is the first time he's had two wieners in his face! Ba-dum-cha! Aww. ...and Maddy had rolled herself up like a taco. I went into my office in the evening and found both of the dogs burrowing into the comforter on the couch. Edie had her face tucked under the edge... These two were very interested in the smell of frying falafel. Mmmm. Happy April 2009! Squinty. Total buddies. We arrived back at the apartment to find these two curled up in the afternoon sun. This is probably true of most breeds, but daschunds really love other daschunds. We saw a dog with the same coat as Maddy. Then we fell in love with a daschund puppy that had a "blue" coat. So adorable. Wiener dogs on the move. Hahaha. It's a dog in a bag! (Sung to the tune of Dick in a Box ). So much awesome in my living room it's unbelievable. Just a basic Wednesday night hang. You literally can't have a bad day with these guys around. Three clean noses! No, I ATTACK YOU ! I ATTACK YOU! Ten hours later and they're still at it.
