But she still got enough of a tan that she had to wear white make up on her face to work the next day so as not to blow her "I was sick in bed yesterday" cover story.
At 8am we headed to Penn Station so we could catch the Long Island Railroad out to Jones Beach. Meredith ducked out of the hustle and bustle of the terminal and into a bookstore so that she could...
Meredith (being much smarter than I am) opted for sunblock (instead of the weak-ass number 4 lotion I used) and only ended up getting a little sun-kissed.
...Chicago's legendary Mr. Whitefolks, who is arguably the world's only famous white pimp best known for his extensive speech on the importance of "beating the shit outta your hos to keep them in line" in HBO's Pimps Up Hos Down documentary. When I showed up, he was actually in the process of trying to convince Leigh and Meredith and that they should "be his bitches." He later informed me that this process is known as "turning bitches out." (Check out both of Leigh and Meredith's absolutely priceless expressions. Hahahah.).
A little past one, Meredith and I went over to Kabin to meet up with Leigh. I went to the bathroom in the back and then ran into someone on the way back and when I got back to the front of the bar I found Leigh and Mer talking to none other than...
On the street outside of Remote we ran into Grant's former interm Noah and her friend who gave Grant the mutual "get a load of this guy" (because they were both wearing Robert Smith clothing items!).
And then Grant impressed us with his pole tricks. (Actually ladies, this is only one of his "pole tricks." He'll happily show you his other if you ask next time you see him.)
The best thing about the back bathroom downstairs at Lit is that there isn't a real door, just two little swingy half-doors (like they had going into saloons back in ye olde wild, wild west) which enable you to sneak your camera in around the corner and take pervy I-caught-you-peeing snapshots.
After the show, we decided to head over to Lit. On the walk over Grant was taking pics so when he wasn't looking I pulled by pants down to show some ass-crack and then hid it with my shirt. Then right when he was ready to take the next photo, I raised my arms so that my shirt would lift forcing Grant to accidentally take a picture of my ass. The joke was executed flawlessly save one small problem: I apparently don't have an ass.
...a $150 dollar ticket for making a right turn ON GREEN during business hours. WHAT THE FUCK? Apparently, they've recently instituted these "no right turn" rules as a way to generate revenue for the broke-ass NYPD. (I tried to plead to the cop that the hot dog vendor's umbrella had obstructed the sign, which it in fact did, but he didn't want to hear it.). The day was off to a shitty start until Meredith instantly lifted the clouds by changing out of her work clothes on the highway and giving me a...
About halfway through the twelve-pack, Meredith and Emily both called up and decided to join us. Here's me wearing her lil' green Harry Potter glasses.
The plan was to have Leigh pop her cherryaoke, but instead she ended up being Meredith's shy backup dancer. I was really disappointed in Leigh. Meredith however...
Meredith, being of the fair-skinned persuation, lotioned up with full-on sunblock (including a little dollop for where her hair parts so that her scalp wouldn't burn).
Despite only getting a few hours of sleep, we managed to pick up the van and be heading beachward before noon. Here's me, Meredith, Grant, Rachel and David and Miye in the back! Rented van, wooooooo!
Okay, back to Misshapes. Here's Grant (earning bonus points for his Rolling Stone shirt prescience) Meredith (making a Mr. Magoo face) and Sarah "Wish She Didn't Have a Boyfriend" Harrison. (Just to clarify - that's me wishing, not her.)
But hey, when it comes to getting girls dressed in naughty outfits more free drinks, sometime you gotta do what you gotta do. Meanwhile, on the other side of the dancefloor...
Meredith needed to learn HTML for her job so on Thursday evening she came over and I played teacher for the first of a series of HTML lessons - skills she's since begun using to do her very own photo diary! (PS - Despite her obvious interest in computers, I'm convinced it was all a ploy to get in my pants).
Meredith (the pirate). Shortly after this photo was taken, everyone left except for the Fatty and I. We ended up staying in the park and playing ultimate frisbee with a bunch of high school kids for over 3 hours. (Which resulted in my being more sore than I've ever been in my life. I could barely walk for the next three days).
...aw yeah, Meredith Silverman. (While Meredith and I were introduced that night, we actually never spoke until several months later. She's since gone on to become one of my favorite people - and was the first person to come out and visit me at my new place in San Francisco. A trip that inspired her to get her very first digicam and start her very own photo diary!)
Addendum December 28, 2008: I'm working on putting all these old entries into a database and I'd like to point out that this is the very first photo I ever took of my future wife! How crazy is that?
