Brett & Me, Halloween 1989. I was Freddy Krueger. My brother asked me to help him look like a punk rocker. I dyed his hair pink, gave him Alice Cooper make-up and made him a rock-shirt with a bunch of hand-drawn logos of all the bands I was into! (I can't read them all, but I do see Anthrax, Metallica, Van Halen and TESLA! hahah).
...but went the extra mile this year and went full grim reaper. Including eight-inch platform boots (that made me 6'7"!) chain, hour glass hung around my neck and real scythe (not pictured).
OMFG, Quinn, Karen, Gurj and Sarah came in one of the best GROUP COSTUMES I've ever seen: the In Living Color FLY GIRLS. Ahahahahahah. That makes Meredith Sexy Fire Marshall Bill?
I like dressing up, but I don't really like all the planning and buying stuff that's involved in dressing up. So more often than not, I'll revert to a last-minute halloween costume with whatever's lying around.
Halloween was on a Friday and that kind of sucks because then EVERYONE comes into town and the streets get a little messy. I was moseying down 2nd Ave on my way to a party and I randomly ran into Josh and Jenny. A full two years before the Jersey Shore debuted on MTV Josh absolutely murdered with his douchebag costume. (Check him doing the shocker and everything!). Jenny was the Wicked Witch of the West. Man, I can't stop looking at Josh's outfit. Ok, and that killer pout. Genius.
Creative costumes are great and all, but in my opinion, the best thing you can do for a work Halloween costume is to dress up as one of your co-workers! Check out Christine, who came in dressed up as Ian! She gets awarded some pretty serious "I have big balls" bonus points because Ian was her boss!
I figured that Greg would've joined in with Leigh and Geo and stuck with the Moulin Rouge theme, but he opted to dress like that creepy Peter Pan guy instead! Hahaha. (And Alexis was dressed up as Donatella Versace!!! Holy, Bonersville! Hahaha).
We left the party and by the time we got back out on the street both my brother and Sid had finished their bottles of Night Train. (The next day while we were looking at all these photos my brother got to this one and said "Yep, finishing that bottle of Night Train and posing for this photo is pretty much the last thing I remember." Hahaha. At the next party we met...
On the way over, we stopped in a liquor store where my brother and Sid, despite my repeated warnings, decided to try Night Train Express (the very finest of fortified bum wines) for the very first time. I was like "Yo, Guns N' Roses even wrote a song about how that shit's even too hardcore for them...do you know how hardcore that is?" At first they laughed at me, but then they started to understand that I wasn't joking around when the toothless 60-year old man at the register who had tattoos on his face looked at them increduously and said "Night Train? Are you sure you want to do that, guys? Wow." For a minute I thought they were going to back out - I mean shrugging off Axl Rose's warning is one thing, but to ignore the tattooed-face check-out guy? That's crazy. But in the end, they put their money on the counter. The checkout guy just kept shaking his head as he bagged them up and as we left the he called out "Good luck!" Hahaha.
Sarah making friends with the scary-ass costume guy that stands outside of Ricky's Halloween shop on Broadway for most of the month of October. If you come to NYC during then, watch out for this guy. He stands really still against the storefront pretending he's a statue and then when someone walks a little too close he'll jump out in front of them, or just reach out and touch their face, or my personal favorite, just as someone passes him, he'll start walking behind them really close...people will get like ten feet, sense someone is following them and when they turn around, they're like "AHHHHHHH!" Anyway, Sarah and I stood around for like ten minutes cracking up watching people freak the fuck out.
After laughing like two crazed loons at the mop photos, Doug decided it would be funny to capture an action shot of him breaking something...here's him mid-throw with a CPU monitor we found on the street.
Magnum Motherfucking P.I.! (P.I. = Pimped Investigator, bee-eye-atch!) This shot was taken at my place right before we left for the party. I chose to pose in front of the Hawaiian mural that covers that back wall of our Tikki Living Room.
Nina, Grant and Viola. Grant's horns came off because he was so fervently making out with Nina...see how she's missing make up and he's got white shit all over his face? Where's her hand anyway? Jesus!
