On Sunday evening, I took Maddy for a walk to Tompkins and noticed that the main tree inside the ring had a branch broken while we were away in Cleveland
On nice days in the summer, they have a painted community piano that they wheel out and put next to the dog park. Any one that wants to come by and play can use it. It's one of the coolest things I've seen in a public city park!
As it got closer to Edie's time to walk in the parade, we went over to the pen to watch some of the other dogs walk. I like how the owner here decided to wear her hair up...you know, just to make it easier to tell them apart.
This guy had a dog dressed up like Elvis. Just in case the dog was already TOTALLY humiliated enough, the guy insisted on dragging him around a little stage built on a wagon...
Sweet shirt, btw. (Afterwards, we went back to my room at Sarah's apartment and started plotting our evil plan to paint a mural out on Fatty's back deck).
Huh. I don't know what which surprises me most: The fact that he brought his parrot to the park (complete with a little travel parrot-perch!), the fact that he decided to strip down to his undies and play with his parrot...
...or the fact that he was accompanied to the park by an actual woman. Seen here hiding her face. Which I'm sure is only because of the sun. (What, you mean you'd be embarrassed to have a parrot on your ass?)
On Tuesday, Leigh and I went to Thompkin Square to people watch (er, ok...and to work on our tans). So we're sitting there, minding our own business and then this guy shows up to the park with...
Somewhere during the course of the afternoon, I ended up making friends with this deaf mute guy. He spent his day circling the park and barking (yes, literally barking, he's deaf mute, remember?) at girls in bikinis to get their attention and then taking their picture with a disposable camera. He communicated with us by miming and manage to tell us that he puts all of his photos of girls in bikinis in an album and that we should all come over and look at the pictures sometime because he lives right around the corner. (I swear this is true. How could I even make something like this up?) The only thing I didn't learn was his name.
On Sunday we headed back to Thompkins Square Park to enjoy the sunshine. (From L to R: Matt Lavin aka "Buddy" from Sid & Buddy fame, Vin, me and the Tins).
