On Sunday afternoon, I had my head smashed open by this fantastically weird book. Can't recommend this book highly enough! Prometheus Rising by Robert Anton Wilson.
Literally exploded my mind. Check out the blurbs on the back. Worth reading if you're open to the idea that the world is different than the media has led you to believe.
Here is a photo of what I consider an excellent Sunday afternoon and just an all-around good way to end a month. Get up and walk to the diner and have your favorite pancakes and read Larry Livermore's punk rock memoir about living in a cabin in the woods four hours north of San Francisco and starting Lookout Records. Spy Rock Memories by Larry Livermore
Haters gonna hate, but I loved this book. Haunting, dreamy novel about a financial scam-artist from London who gets discovered and takes the money he's stolen to hide out in the casinos of Macau trying to turn his dwindling hundreds of thousands into millions. The Ballad of a Small Player
Healing with Form, Energy and Light. This book is the real-deal Holyfield discloser of "hidden esoteric knowledge." Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche's is a Tibetan Buddhist / Bonn lama who uses his books to openly talk about techniques THOUSANDS of years old that formerly were only orally transmitted directly to students in caves. (It's also one of the books that most clearly reveals the overlaps between Eastern schools, the Egyptian mystery schools and Western Alchemy / Tarot!)
I found this book really interesting. It's about a Western allopathic doctor who while working on patients in 1974, suddenly becomes aware of his ability to sense the human bioenergy field and writes an entire book about it only to discover halfway through that other cultures have been talking about "chakras" for years.

Aliens in the Prime of Their Lives by Brad Watson is one of the best collections of short stories I've read in the last few years. Really strange and haunting. Several years later and most of them have still stuck with me. Definitley worth a read!
On Monday evening I took to bus, in 60-degree weather, down to DC to spend the holidays with my parents at Brett & Amy's. I started reading the excellent and fantastic The Holographic Universe on the trip.
My brother's bookshelf is as awesomely weird as mine. I'm in constant need of NEW BOOKS TO READ and a visit to his place never fails to turn up an interesting new read. Really dug this (depressing as fuck) book. Definitely worth a read if you're into this kind of thing. Gangster Capitalism: The United States and the Globalization of Organized Crime
Stayed up late working on this website and published 6 new entries bringing the total photo count to this site over the 30,000 mark! Went to Odessa for a booky breakfast.
Every event in the visible world is the effect of an "image," that is, of an idea in the unseen world. Everything that happens on earth is only a reproduction of an event in a world beyond our sense perception."
...by connecting the center of each circle to every other circle's center with string, producing the sacred geometric figure that's impressively-known as Metatron's Cube.
Not a lot of night life on the island, plus I was getting up super early the next morning again to try to go diving, so I stayed in reading and went to bed early.
I really enjoy transportation in other countries. It's nice to sit in a bus station and just wait around with a book. You get lost in the story and sort of forget where you are, then for a second when you look up you're like "Holy shit, where am I?"
Thursday was Meredith, Ellen and my third, consecutive day cooped-up in an 8' x 10' room with 3 dogs in Meredith's parent's apartment, after being displaced by Hurricane Sandy! Meredith is laughing because I don't like to eat pumpkin or squash and so now that we'd split up she was reading-up on pumpkin & squash recipes. Hahahah. So good
