All this by 11:30pm.

No idea where the flowers came from.

Flowers for my lady.

Rainy walk to work.

Stuytown goes a little overboard with the landscaping every year, but the flowers do look nice.

Flowers and ConEd.

I really like what they did with the place. The interior is really nicely designed.

I'm so glad you're back.

Ta-da!

See? Like, what is this even? There was a bush that was filled with these guys. They were like soft sea urchins that smelled nice.

The only time I ever see Saturday morning...

Stuytown landscaping in full summer effect!
flower
Took Edie for a walk all through Stuytown.
flower
And on the way out the street I passed trays and trays of beautiful flowering plants that they were getting ready to plant all around the Stuytown grounds. (Whoopsie! Sorry about wasting money on flowers and defaulting on the 3 BILLION DOLLAR LOAN! Love, Tishman Speyer!)

Mid-month: the Stuytown blossoms in full-effect.

And springtime arrived in New York City. Here's the first flowering buds on the trees in Stuyvesant Town while I was out running errands!

Just a wild guess.

Hahaha. Mandy was really on a roll this night.

Aya, the lovely bride-to-be, getting giddy!

On Friday I brought Meredith flowers! She is pretty. I am lucky.

At 2am, the bars closed and we wandered around Nana Plaza talking to people and watching the madness of drunk tourists scrambling to secure "company" for the night. Here's Meredith and Jeremy posing with a kid who was selling flowers that wouldn't leave Jeremy alone because he thought it was so funny that Jeremy spoke some Thai. Hahaha. (Bonus points to the little kid for flipping the bird).

Meredith was totally blown away by all the Thai ladyboys walking around and all sorts of questions about them that Jeremy couldn't answer - so Jeremy being Jeremy, he proceeded to ask every single ladyboy that passed Meredith's questions. Some of which included "Do you still have a penis?" and "When men hire you, do they want you to act like a man or a woman?"

Most ladyboys are not shy AT ALL so when Jeremy started asking questions like this, it led to AWESOMENESS. My favorite part of the night was when Jeremy was asking a ladyboy a bunch of questions and working up to the "Do you still have a penis" part, the ladyboy was like "All your questions are making me excited. Here, I want you to feel my excitement" and proceeded to put Jeremy's hand right on the erection that was starting to form inside her miniskirt! Hahahaha.

The best part was, Jeremy wasn't even phased by it. He just laughed and then was like "So, if I wanted to party with you, how much would it cost and what would we do?" The lady put Jeremy's hand back on her penis and was like "1,500 Baht. You fuck me..." (then she leaned in and lowered her voice to a man's timbre and finished) "...then I FUCK YOU!" Hahahah. Oh, man. It was epic.

The night was really funny. The girls also LOVED Meredith's big blue eyes and kept telling her that they didn't usually "go with" other ladies but that if she was interested in one of them "that was ok." Hahaha. We ended up getting really drunk and hanging out with the girls and answering a lot of questions about life in New York City.

...the infamous Nana Plaza for my birthday! Nana Plaza is one of Bangkok's really famous red light districts (and was featured prominently in John Burdett's book Bangkok 8 that I was reading at the time). The place is sort of a mind fuck. At the onset it seems like any other bikini go-go bar, except that the girls there are all prostitutes. They each have numbers on their bikinis so you can order them (!!!).

Most of the girls there are from small rural towns in the middle of nowhere and are sent to Bangkok to work in the sex trade so they can earn money for their families. They realized right away that our group wasn't there for sex, but thought it was really funny that we were just there to hang out and have fun. (And they all LOVED the fact that Jeremy spoke pidgin Thai).

Me with my crown of flowers that was given to me when the girls found out we were out celebrating my birthday!

Meredith and one of the girls who wanted her to know that it would "be okay." Hahaha

Surrounding the base of the mount are shaded parks with all sorts of ponds. Here's a lotus flower blossom!

Hahaha. I love this photo. You can totally tell he's about to do something funny...

...then she shored up Jeff!

Then me! Thanks for lending your slender lady-fingers, gorgeous! We would've been flowerless without you!

...Meredith was called upon to help out all the fumbly-fingered men with their buttoneers! Here she is giving Kent a hand...

There were even fresh flowers on the toilets!

You know, a couple of flowers in our beers...

The next morning I invited Meredith and Niki the Roommate to take the train out to New Jersey with me to head to my Aunt and Uncle's house in Clark, NJ and spend Easter with my family! Here's the lovely ladies all dressed up (complete with flowers for Grandma!) on the taxi ride over to Penn Station.

Afterwards, a bunch of us went to Sarah and Gurj's house. Here's Leigh and Gurj with flowers in their hair.

On Wednesday night, Meredith and I randomly decided to check out the late night stand up show at the Comedy Cellar.

Afterwards, we headed over to Misshapes and gave the birthday girl some flowers (I even picked ones that would match her dress. Awwww).
flower
On our way over to Sarah's with flowers for the hostess. Leigh used to live right by Sarah's apartment, and wanted to show me what she called some "very special murals."
flower
After Frank was, er, finished...we headed into some of the indoor planthouses and looked around. Here's the plant called "Birds of Paradise" that we found in one of the rainforest greenhouses.
flower
Then we went inside to check out some of the Japanese plants on display.

They're everywhere you look. The other great thing about the spring time is that after everyone's been cooped up all winter, people, namely girls, are feeling frisky. Which means that there's plenty of...

And there was even a surprise visit from our good friend...shit, what's this guy's name again? I can't even remember. Seriously, if you read this David Forman, you're a dick. A big, not-returning-my-phone-calls dick. Last time this kid talked to me was to ask me to help him with his video Valentine's Day gift...which I spent like five hours on. Haven't heard a peep from him since. Dick, dick, dick. Holy Jesus Marymotherofgod, what a dick. (I still love you, though. So for fuck's sake call me if you see this, shitcock. Ok?)

After lunch, we packed up our gear and headed to the car so we could check out the beach over at Matala before sunset.

Right when I got off the highway and into Boston, I called Kate to ask where I should meet her. Answering the phone, she barely managed to slur a hello. Turns out a few hours earlier, she had been trying to light a match without removing it from the matchbook (kids, let this be a lesson) and the whole book ignited burning her hand pretty badly. She and her roommate Erin promptly headed to the bar across the street to try to ease the pain. By the time I showed up - she was definitely no longer feeling any pain. Here's Kate right after we got back to her place.
