As soon as we got into the park, Karen, Jenny and Gurj used the money they'd saved on admission to bling themselves out with some flashy Jersey Jewelry. Karen went for the big dragon, Jenny went for the skull and bones and Gurj went for the big ol' dollar sign.
Everyone that was there that night was totally rowdy. At one point in the night, Karen and Jenny realized that they were both wearing ridiculous 80s tights, which led to a whole series of photos...
After the show, I went down the street to say hi to Sarah and Karen who were DJing at Movida. I quietly snuck up the stairs that lead up to the elevated DJ booth as I was planning on scaring them - but Karen totally turned around a caught me getting ready to jump out and yell.
After spening the night at Meredith's I went over to my room at Sarah's apartment on Saturday to grab my suitcase and then head to the airport. I snuck in expected the apartment to be quiet, but instead was greeted by Leigh, Karen, Sean and Brandon who'd all had a slumber party the night before!
Meredith, Seva, Karen and ROB HITT (who laughs at me for knowing all the words to every Lifetime song ever). After everyone had filled their gullet, it was time to head up to the building's sick-ass roof deck to...
Sunday Morning Brunch Club at Kate's Joint! Holy shit, remember when we used to do this pretty much EVERY SUNDAY? Clockwise from Left: Sarah, Meredith, Elhaam, Rob Hitt, Brandon, Josh, Ellen, Karen and Leigh!
Then back at Apartment 3A, it was like craft class! Everyone was pitching in the help Sarah make customized record singles for her then-newly-launched record label: Stolen Transmission.
Later that night, a whole bunch of us went to Orchard Bar to celebrate Gurj Bassi's birthday at the old Stolen Transmission party. Hahahah. Gurj, Karen & Sarah. This picture pretty much sums up all of the Orchard Bar Stolen Transmission parties. Man, they were fun.
Karen was lamenting that she didn't have any clothes that were more "piratey" (adjective of the year, BTW) so I offered to give her a piratey tattoo. Check out the bad-ass skull an' bones I managed to pull off!
Sarah and Karen manning the sound system. By the way, these next two photos are my favorite photos of Karen and Sarah. If you know either of them, they pretty much don't even need captions.
After getting our pre-game on, we headed over to Orchard Bar for a Sara and Karen-fueled dance party! (Aw man, remember how fun Thursdays at the Orchard used to be? Boooo!).
Sarah and Karen were DJing and someone introduced me to Karen as "Billy Ray" and told her that she'd lost her virginity to me. I talked to Karen as Billy Ray for like three or four minutes before she was like, "Have we met before? You seem...really...familiar....OH MY GOD BRIAN I HATE YOU!" Hahaha. Granted, it was dark in there!
While browsing the costumes we got distracted by the most budget ever Ali G costume. Complete with Jamie Foxx's little brother (who clearly has Down's) modeling on the package. Hahaha.
Karen. Ha-ha-hungover! After we finished eating, we decided to head over to the costume store on 4th Ave so the girls could buy cheerleading outfits. Later on in the week they were hosting a "Pre-SXSW Pep Rally" and wanted to make sure they'd be dressed accordingly.
