a thing in 408 photos e9th apt Later that evening, Gurj came over for a hang... Read a bit with my lap buddy. Meredith & Jane Anne came over early to hang out. My new loft-less bedroom is coming along nicely! Good news as the party was outside in the garden across the street! Picture perfect day! Got an afternoon rainshower, but otherwise perfect party weather! Woke up feeling excited / anxious! I like attending parties, but get a little stressed when I'm the host! Saturday was the day of my 40th birthday party! (2 days in advance of my actual birthday). Spent the morning... On Monday Meredith & Gurj came over to eat and hang! We ended up making 3d models. Lol. Sunday kitchen cleaning and plant care! Nice to not have to climb a ladder to get into bed (but weird to be sleeping on the floor again!) Ta-Da! Moved the bed back into my brand new blue bedroom! So weird to see this room empty! Cleared everything out and vacuumed, and then it was time to disassemble the bed! That meant that it was time to take apart the excellent loft Pauly built and installed the week before Meredith and I moved into this apt in April 2010 ! After three and a half years of living alone, I decided I was ready to trade in some apartment storage space to not have to climb a ladder every time I get in or out of bed! ....gone! I love to watch Maddy sit in the sun and slowly squint her way to sleep. Going, going... Cleaned my apt real good on Monday. Out walking with Maddy on Thursday... Filled with water and running! Looks pretty nice and it's LOUD AS HELL. Indoor fountain dreams really do come true! Unboxed! I'd been wanting an indoor fountain for a while to use as a white noise machine to drown out the noise from the bar downstairs when it's loud. What my crazy-person's living room looks like when I wake up in the morning! Spent the evening playing guitar! Looked out the window to find the paper mache dragon I'd seen my neighbors making in the garden a few days earlier! Looked really great after being painted! Woke up Sunday morning to the sounds of a street parade! Rolando also had some paper mache magic tree that was decorated with his famous soda cans he turns into metal flowers! Then I did my exercises with my Persian clubs. Back home in NY on Wednesday. Spent the afternoon taking care of my plants! ...and installed a new shelf / coat-hook combo next to my front door. So much extra storage. Hooray! Spent a raining Monday at home... On Thursday morning Vin came over again to work on the comic! Was walking Maddy on Saturday and someone had put this awesome shelving unit out for trash! Scooped it right up and put it in the living room! SCORE! Snowy Friday morning! Vin came over on Monday morning for our weekly work session! Woke up on Saturday to the sight of my new carpet... Much better! Removing a rug and putting a new rug down without being able to move the furniture out of the room is the ultimate New York puzzle. My living room was looking kind of crazy with the patterned rug I'd gotten, so I decided to swap it out for something simpler. ...and then moved everything back in! Ta-da! New painted office! ...painted all the trim in there... Looks so much better than with the white walls! Thanks, Vin! Later Sunday afternoon, my most recent shipment of WEIRDO GEAR arrived courtesy of Amazon. Kicked off my 2016 with a chilly Sunday morning... ...and we had a Thai food feast hang! Happy holidays! Got together Monday morning with Vin and talked about helping him create comic book with a bunch of funny stories from his high school past. Ta-da! New carpet! Rainy fall Tuesday! Got a bunch of new camera gear on Saturday. Happy to be home in my lovely apartment after my long drive down to Florida Later that evening, I had my neighbors from across the hall over for a neighbor party! Vin came over for a hang and sammiches. It was a rainy, chilly morning... Meredith photo-retouching! Meredith had recently broken up with Dylan and our HEARTBREAK HOTEL agreement always stands so she came to stay on the couch for a few days and took turns holding the dogs until she felt better. Woke up on my couch super early... Better-ish! Spent the afternoon trying to deal with the clutter that always seems to pile up in all my rooms. ...she was a good sport about listening to all my songs I played for her and my deep, insightful realizations about how maybe I'm not so young anymore. Maybe . Haha. Started the month off strong with a double dog hang Gurj slumber party. After walking these ladies... ...lovely living room. Post-rain early evening view from my... After successfully not breaking my neck, I took Maddy for an evening walk in the garden. The apartment across the hall from mine is vacant and they are re-painting. I took this photo and posted it to Facebook trying to get someone I know in the clutch "Kramer-neighbor" spot. Spent Monday with Jane Anne ...on ethical non-monogamy Got this excellent flyer handed to me by neighbors in my building advertising their awesome upcoming party! (I obviously went!) Exchanged reiki with Kevin in the evening and then we got and Indian food feast! ...chanting this guy's songs. ...and had ourselves an old-fashioned pizza party. Later that evening, Matt, Meredith & Ellen came over! Mer was getting ready to take a trip with Dylan for the first time! ...AND Edie! Hahah. Such cuddle buddies. Laid down for a little Sunday couch nap, and was quickly joined by Maddy... Edie hops up onto his lap every chance she gets. Grant is in denial about liking dogs, but they sure like him. Hahah. Got a nice overnight dusting. Later that evening, Grant and Fatty came by and we bundled up to head out for... Cleaned my apartment on Monday afternoon... Fun to watch the city slowly turn white. I love me some brain-computer interfaces! You put it on, plug in some headphones... ...and make some phone calls from my phone-calling chair! Was excited to plug this bag boy in... Had a bro-down with Grant on Friday! ...then Cat came back to mine for some QT with Maddy. My favorite view of the living room... Tuesday evening in July. Watching the sun through my living room window... ...Mer, J-rod and Gurj came over for Tiny's Giant Sandwiches and a mega-hang! Set up the table for Kristina. ...after! Ta-da! On Monday afternoon, the new carpets I ordered arrived. I got one for my home office. Before... Nyquilled myself all day and binge-watched the first season of Marc Maron's TV show. Meredith was in the neighborhood because she was working on getting her name changed back (Awwww, gain a Battjer - lose a Battjer!) and came over for an afternoon pizza party! Hung out with Mer & Maddy on Saturday night. Tough wintery January Sunday. Ta-ha! (The design changes when viewed at an angle - you can more-easily see the "cube" inside) On Sunday afternoon I set up my reiki table... Newly painted living room is still a nice surprise in the morning! In other building improvement news, they upgraded the lighting fixtures in the stairwell.
