I first saw Alex's art when I came into NYC during my high school years when I somehow ended up wandering into the Psychedelic Solution Gallery in the early 90s. The documentary features a ton of his mindblowing art.
There's a really disturbing scene in the movie where one of the characters gets shot by accident, made more disturbing by the fact that Meredith was wearing the exact same outfit as the dead guy in the movie. Haha.
With the forecast calling for tons of overnight snow, we decided to rent a DVD (remember those)? and have an early night so we could get up early and ski!
...Wildwood, NJ! It's an hour-long documentary shot on super-8 in Wildwood in 1994. (We both spent our younger years in the 609!). Definitely worth watching. You can buy the DVD here on Ruthless Films site!
On Sunday, I watched a Norwegian gore movie called Dead Snow. All you need to know about this movie is included in its IMDB summary: "A ski vacation turns horrific for a group of medical students, as they find themselves confronted by an unimaginable menace: Nazi zombies." Haha.
Check out the entertainment ammo. The movie The Game (Meredith had NEVER SEEN IT!), two pizzas, a pasta BREAD BOWL, 4 cupcakes and a packet of Reese's.
On Thursday night, Meredith and I went out to Williamsburg for movie night at Siege and KT's. If you like zombie movies and/or surreal comedy, I highly recommend the movie Fido.
On the way out, we also picked off another: "Movie theater (be creative)." 15 POINTS! (If we didn't get bonus points for the fact that the movie playing was Sixteen Candles, we should've.)
On Sunday afternoon, Meredith and I met up with her parents in the West Village to see The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters. This movie is amazing. If you haven't seen it, see it soon. There is no way you will not love it.
...head back to the movie theater that we went to the previous night except this time to see a Thai "odd couple cop" movie. It was basically Lethal Weapon except that the Mel Gibson "wacky cop" character was played by a famous Thai kathoey (ladyboy). It was as awesome as it was ridiculous.
After we finished eating, we went and saw The Bourne Ultimatum. It was good, but nothing like the book (which I'd just finished reading a couple of days prior in anticipation of the movie because I am a nerd like that).
...and spent the rest of the day hiding out from the rain and reading. Around 8pm we decided to kick off PIRATED MOVIEFEST with The Beach (which you can find on pirated DVD in pretty much every single place that sells anything in Thailand). After we finished the movie, I decided to take a nap - which at 10pm, turned into bed for the night. Hahaha.
And then later that night, we went and saw Ratatouille before catching a train back to NYC! Congrats again, Scott and Erika! Thanks so much for inviting us to your wedding! We had a great time!
And then I stayed at home and watched Saturday Night Fever, you know, so I could work on my moooooves. (Actually, now that I look at this pic I can't decide if it's really Saturday Night Fever or if it's the scene in Top Secret (aka - The best movie of all time) where they parody the main dance scene in Saturday Night Fever). Well, either way, I was working on my moves.
On Friday night, Meredith and I went to the midnight showing of the amazing 80s movie Teen Witch at the Sunshine Landmark Theatre. As a total bonus, they had the director (who wrote all the songs in the movie) and Robyn Lively (the girl that played the starring role in the movie!) show up and introduce the movie and do a Q&A with the audience!
Then, the director offered a prize to anyone that could come down and rap "Top That!" (one of the hip hop's most epic cinematic moments where a teen-witch uses her powers of enchantment to bestow upon her frumpy, Jew-froed friend the power to RHYME SICK!) in its entirety. Andrew Borin was in the audience and he immediately ran down the stairs and nailed it, solo on the mic.
...the film Firecracker. Which I wanted to see because it was Mike Patton's (of Faith No More & Mr. Bungle) acting debut. (Mike was awesome, the film was not really my cup of tea. Sort of like budget David Lynch movie).
...this incredible photo op. Hahahah. How fucking scary is photo? Will looks 800 times more like Bad Sensei than I look like Johnny. His resemblance is uncanny! If there had been a lookalike "Daniel-san" in the bar that night, he totally would've shit his pants.

Rainy Monday. Somehow Sarah managed to talk Merdith and I into seeing the Ashton Kutcher & Bernie Mac remake of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. (Ok, I concede. As much as I'm reluctant to admit it, it was pretty funny).
Later that night I went to the super cool old-school theater down the street from my house in the Castro. Before the movie starts, they have an old guy playing an organ! Then he leaves, the organ goes away and the curtain comes up to reveal the screen. It's pretty awesome.
T-minus one day. All packed up and feeling nervous, I opted for a little escapism and went to see an afternoon movie with Grant and Leigh. On the way out, Grant and Leigh both took their turn being the "seed of Chucky."
