party

party
The crowd got even bigger as...
party
And afterwards we hit the Fader Magazine party.
party
The stage was inside this huge metal airplane hanger-type deal.
party
And we hit the Vice party (which was so mobbed we had to find famous people in bands and then sneak in as part of their anonymous entourage).
party
I think this was Bloc Party (again!) playing. Then we watched some band called Hamburger (maybe?).
party
Here's where the uber-strict door policy was enforced. (Said strict door policy quickly degradated to "Fuck yeah! Come on in! Woooooo!"
party
...Ben Brown's house to help set up for Sarah's debut party for her brand new record label, Stolen Transmission. Ben Brown (who's since moved out to SF after his start up was acquired!) who kind enough to donate his house for the party!
party
...Jake (the guy who moved into my old room) had somehow agreed to let some film production company use the apartment to shoot a gay porno. WTF? The narrative of the movie called for the porno to be taking place at "a party" so Jake called up everyone pleading for them to come over and help it look like a party.
party
The dude in the green shirt was one of the "actors" in the movie (if you knowwhatimsayin). He spent his pre-scene time getting completely drunk and telling anyone that would listen that he wasn't gay and was just in porno for "the money." (...shots, probably).
party
With "the party" in full-effect, it was time for the crew to get the rest of "the set" ready.
party
Meredith, Grant and Victoria.
party
Crowded smoky sweaty.
party
After unloading my stuff and having some dinner with the 'rents, I headed back into town and hit Ave C for...
party
But it was so crowded inside that we lost track of Amanda and Grant. After 20 minutes of searching, Siege, Katie, Meredith and I decided to call it a night and head home.
party
I even saw my first "Hot Sanfranciscan!" Hello there, cutie with a little sleeveless striped sweater on.
party
We hit it off immediately and headed over to the party.
party
Meredith and Grant on the dance floor.
party
Wooo!
party
Bev, Rachael and Kristie in the front row giving up love for...
party
David, Meredith and Una.
party
Bonus points to whoever that is in the foreground hoisting a forty of homemade Brass Monkey (one of the Crowley Crew, no doubt). As the party started to get going, it was time to kick off the karaoke!
party
When you're following Grant on the karaoke stage, you always gotta bring out the crowd pleasers.
party
With the crowd in full effect...
party
With a jam-packed crowd awaiting...
party
...except for (a platinum blonde???) James Iha being here.
party
I got to Rothko and it was all crazy prom-decorated with pastel balloons everywhere. It looked almost exactly like my prom...
party
Luke and LeRoy (the bar) was all decorated like a high school gymnasium during prom.
party
With the dancefloor in riotous full-effect, it was time to announce...
party
The party at Sarah's was already in full effect.
party
The packed dance floor upstairs.
party
On Wednesday, Grant and I got invited to some Playboy party at BLVD. Since the venue was only a block from my apartment, we decided to swing by and check it out. We got there to find the place jam-packed with Long Island meatheads sitting down and watching sports on one of th 30 or so giant plasma TVs they had on.
party
The place was mobbed. Party people in full effect, yo.
party
And we ran into Julia and Kristen again! After all the fun we had last time we ran into the two of them, we decided to hop a cab and head over to the West Side to check out Misshapes.
party
After the Hole we went back to Pianos to check out Carlos D's birthday party. Neither of us know Carlos, but we figured the party was probably worth checking out. When we got there, it was a private deal and the doorman wouldn't let us upstairs. We were just about to leave when Carlos came downstairs, looked at us and said, "I recognize you guys from being around all the time!" and invited us upstairs. So nice! So Carlos, thanks. I will return the favor by encouraging my readers to download their very own Carlos D. Instant Messenger Buddy Icon.
party
Crowd dancing.
party
And here she is cutting the bread with her grandfather. Challah! (This is one of my fave pics).
party
The room beyond was decorated in a "neighborhoods of New York City" theme. Each table bore the name of a different area of the city and had food and decorations to match...Little Italy, Chinatown, Times Square, etc. In addition to the food, there were dancers and singers from all sorts of different Broadway plays and musicals. Here's Amara, the girl of honor.
party
Here's another view of the reception. Grant took out his recorder and tried to strike up a few conversations while I worked on kicking the buffet's ass and half-heartedly snapping photos between mouthfuls. Just when we were beginning to think that it was a wash and that Flaunt was going to tell us that this event wasn't "bling" enough, this crazy techno music started pumping and the entire back wall of the room that we were in (the one above with the painting on it), split in half and was rolled away to reveal an enormous room behind it with the mother of all blinging bat mitzvah receptions in full effect behind it.
party
The photos were decent but were definitely eclipsed by the dudes walking around with trays of chocolate covered ice cream Bon Bons.
party
Here's the scene from where I walked in.
party
I took this pic from the back of the yard facing the barn/house.
party
The party was at some abandoned farm. It was pretty cool. There was a barn/house, and a big yard with all sorts of crumling walls and benches.
party
Then the cops showed up.
party
A little past 3am, they started making people leave the roof and clear the store out. Here's a view of the store from the stairs leading up to the roof as things wound down.
party
After the band played, everyone headed upstairs for a party on the roof.
party
After the Fader Party, I walked over to the pavilion and managed to sneak into the back just in time to catch Piebald play (from like 300ft away).
party
Here's the big BBQ party that was going on outside the hanger after Joan's set. A little after 3am it started raining so I bid Mandy and company farewell and took a cab over to the hotel where...
party
On Saturday night, a bunch of us headed up to the upper West Side for a dinner party at Pepper and Lil' Fatty's aparment.
party
Despite the fancy dress shirts we wore because of Pepper insistence that they would help us "fit in better," we soooo didn't fit in. (Best photo ever).
party
Check out the crowd: rapt and awaiting to be entertained.
party
And thank YOU too Mr. Supersketchmart Delivery Guy! Without you, many people might have ended up getting to bed at an embarrassingly respectible hour!
party
David "KING OF JDATE" Fateman lived up to his nickname by actually bringing his JDate from earlier on in the evening to the party!
party
...standing on my couch so he could jump up and hang from my apartment's fire sprinkler pipes. Holy worst idea ever, Batman! I managed to snap a pic for posterity before screaming at him to "get the fuck down from there, you lunatic!" (Mke D. has no recollection of this).
party
Hahaha. So great.
party
The end of karaoke.
party
This is one of my favorite pics of the night.
party
Another one.
party
Crowd shot from the karaoke stage.
party
Usually when you go to a house party, you see the same people (give or take a few randoms). This party was awesome because there were all sorts of different groups of people that came out to celebrate the 3 friends' birthdays. Around 3am the party hit full stride. Everybody was having fun and getting drunk and it was right around this time that the crowd started getting...
party
And this is Amanda, my favorite girl of the night.
party
First off, here's the poster for the movie Trainspotting. Beyond Sarah, the party was also to celebrate...
party
...the birthdays of Dan Burn and Laura Young! Here's the invite they whipped up for their combined party.
party
Frank Picarazzi pleasing the crowd.
party
...TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART!
party
Thowing cans of PBR into the crowd.
party
The crowd clearly starting to get karaoke fever.
party
Seth Miller, not wanting to miss a night of karaoke history in the making, came down from Boston!
party
Lawrence on the mic.
party
...and my apt was filling up nicely...
party
Dan and Rob did a nice job rounding up a crowd of karaoke spectators...
party
Emilie taking a picture of me taking a picture of her.
party
Right around midnight, people started showing up!
party
After an hour or so we got bored (not to mention totally train-wreck shithammered on free champagne) and left. Fashion schmashion.
the february roundup
February, 2004
party
MAC had all these celebrity sponsors there, Boy George, Missy Elliot, Christina Aguilera, Linda Evangelista, etc. But they just sort of hid out in the corner and didn't intermingle (not that I can blame them). So instead of some hot celebrity akshun, here's a crowd shot. Yay.
party
Later that night I went out to Frank and Colin's place in Brooklyn to watch the Superbowl. (They actually had two TV sets set up right next to each other: one with the game on mute, the other showing HBO Sunday night TV! Hahah. Curb Your Enthusiasm was so much better anyway.)
party
party
Monday night I went with Sarah Lewitinn to her friend's going away party in the East Village.
the january roundup
January, 2004
party
Oh, and by "full effect," I mean shirtless. Check out kooky Candy getting caught up in the karaoke moment and whipping off her shirt and swinging it over her head...
party
Sarah does the "fuck me overbite" while the boy with the most asymetrical haircut I've ever seen half-heartedly pumps his fist.
party
And that's it. That's my New Year's. I danced with Sarah until 6am and then decided to call it a night and head home. Happy 2004.
party
People were dancing.

And getting sweaty and shirtess.

party
...more stupid pictures.
party
So back to us. More goofing off and catching up....
party
Onto the rest of the party! Woo!
new year's eve

party
By the time I got over there around 3:30ish, the party had pretty much dwindled down. But I hadn't seen Nina in ages so I hung out for an hour or so and caught up.

Dave's roof is amazing, the 2nd half of his roof is literally inches away from the Billyburg Brige (seen in the background here).
party
The party this time was held at a club called Eugene in midtown. The crowd was a strange mix because around 50% of the people that were there seemed to be the people that regularly go to Eugenes (read: Bridge and Tunnel Guidos) and didn't expect a bunch of winged, legwarmers-on-their-arms-wearing weirdos to show up.
party
On Saturday afternoon, our dad woke us up and informed us that our street was having a block party. Check me hitting up the root beer keg. Aw, yeah.
party
Around 2am, the party started winding down (cut us some slack, it was a Wednesday!)...
party
Priscilla, Mari, Grant, Xio (and again, bonus points this time to Jim Jazz for his background face).
party
Around midnight the party was in full effect and... (on to Part Two, trust me, it gets good.)
party
My living room at 11pm. Not a bad turn out for a Wednesday, eh? Who woulda thunk?
party
People started showing up around 9ish and by 10pm the place was already starting to fill up (as evidenced by this shot of my living room).
party
Around 10:30, the living room was getting over-crowded and people started spilling into the guest bedroom (Big Daddy, Fatty and Sarah pimp by the window).
party
Virginia (on the right) with two people I don't know.
party
Friday night we went over to the meatpacking district to celebrate the release of Mark Bibbin's (aka - Tha Notorious B.I.B. aka - the "Virile Poet) new book of poems, Sky Lounge.
party
On Monday night I went to a new club called Manray for the premiere party of a movie called City of Ghosts. Here's the view of the club from up in the dj booth with Matty.
party
Sarah decided to throw a Hawaiian party at her pad. (on a side note, when I asked Tara if she wanted to go to a "Hawaiian Party" with me she asked "Do I have to dress Hawaiian?" Me, "Um, I think so." Tara, "So does the girl that's throwing this party have big boobs?" Me, "Yeah, how'd you know?" Tara, "Because if I had big boobs I'd throw Hawaiian parties all the time and show them off.")
