Later that night we went over to IFC theater to see a midnight movie...but not before stopping at Duane Reade to stock up on some illicit movie treats! Mmmm, cookies. Homemade pizza & jelly (?) On Sunday afternoon, Mer and I walked down to the Donut Plant to get some fancy donuts! Oh, and gorging ourselves on take out and treats! (Hey, we're not the ones that have to run a marathon tomorrow!) We made a quick pit stop en route to pick up some much needed post-airplane party supplies. I really like when your wedding hosts provide you with "feel better" treats and remedies. Haha. So good. Back at home, we celebrated with Nutty Buddies... While they taped the other episodes, we busied ourselves with treats! And for dessert, Astra brought along special homemade chocolates! But first, churro break! Hahaha. Who wants an ice cream sandwich? (This photo makes me scream with laughter every single time I look at it) We had pie and ice cream and then.... I love this photo. (Also, as a side note, on different days I notice that I unconsciously purchase grocery items of the same color. Apparently this day was a "red and orange" day.) The s'mores were delicious. I ate too many of them and then celebrated... Josh was excited to be the s'moresbearer. Nobody didn't like them. Haha. S'mores time! ...so we rounded up all the snacks and headed back downstairs. And six flavors of ice cream for dessert! WHAT? Meredith and my dad showing off their candy bags! At the very end of the night they unveiled a CANDY BAR! Haha. So excited! Enjoyed homemade peanut butter cookies, biscuits and purple-potato salad! On Sunday morning I decided to start my birthday with a pain au chocolat from Ninth Street Espresso. Mmmmmm. Just because they're beach treats doesn't mean I have to wait until the beach. ...and treats! We have a treat-tastic summertime freezer. YES! Ingredients for Canadian Ice Cream Waffles! Later that night Pauly came over with ALL SORTS of Sunday night treats. Afternoon snack time! Well, hello there. ...Jared, Gurj and Christina and took the subway out to Coney Island because someone had gotten tickets to see the circus while it was visiting. Chipwich! Snickers winner. Matt wandered off and came back with a box filled with ice cream treats. MURIKA! Managed to capture Mer's reaction when she saw the size of the treat I was carrying. Haha. Hold the whipped cream. Around dinner time I decided to score a funnel cake. I gorged myself on s'mores trail mix I'd purchased. Subway snacks! Satisfied treat customer. Tecate float? And cookie ice cream sandwiches! What? A little before 5pm, Pepper brought out the desserts! Cupcake ice cream cones and Fateman Jam cake. Someone brought Caprisuns. (My mom STILL won't let me drink these.) The video store was filled with aisles and aisles of exotic Canadian treats I'd never seen. This was the one I chose. It was deliciously declarative. Afterwards, Sarah and Ellen came over for Valentine's Day treats. Yes! And chocolate-covered strawberries! Hot raspberry heart pie! Snack table! ...and I picked out this gallon tub of orange-colored CHEESE-FLAVORED ice cream. (It was good in a weird way. Very strange. Didn't end up making it through the gallon but I enjoyed trying it). ..AND EAT THEM AS ONE! Why decide between between strawberry and chocolate when you can just take one of each... ...I'm basically going to open the thing and just treat it like at 14-pound candy bar. If you leave the box of FONDUE CHOCOLATE lying around long enough... Red wine (served in a goblet) really helps to bring out the subtle, yet complex flavors of new BBQ Pringles. ...and assorted other desserts. Dig in! I had a bunch of miraculin tablets left over and so we busted out all sorts of weird sour and salty food to try tasting after letting the miraculin pills dissolve on our tongues! Chocolate, peanuts, lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruits, bleu cheese and pickles! ...as dad was excited about this box of treats we brought for him. Haha. I couldn't keep away from the STACKS of cookies and pies and treats. Just a little pre-Thanksgiving snack to hold me over! Bonus points for eating snacks IN the store. Check the treat tray! Awesome! We made bagel bites. Holy Brown Snacks! Cookies, popcorn, potato chips, pretzels, almonds, MORE cookies AND cinnamon buns? The souvenir Leigh was most excited about? Chiki Balls! ...he was number one. Why not make paradise better and get some hand-delivered snacks? Spring rolls, a salad, garlic bread and tropical fruity drinks! Later Friday evening we put this very fancy snack arrangement out because... YES! Pauly came bearing Canadian treats! AND mini pizza bits. It's just how I do. ...so I got to rearrange the furniture and put my green chair up real close in front of the TV. Haha. Check out my COMMAND CENTER setup: remote, spring rolls, two kinds of M&Ms, cell phone, game controller. THUMBS UP! Doug's a Snyder's of Hanovers man, himself. (He eats those in the RATHERSKELLER!) Water and weird experimental snack purchase? Check! (Burger King Ketchup & Fries? WTF?) On the way back to the subway I went into a bodega and bought a giant bag of CREAMY CORN CANDY so I'd have a nice weird memento of our lovely trip. Check out the entertainment ammo.
