On the tarmac, the sun was dropping behind the skyline as it set. ...to fly to Vancouver! We came back to my place and ordered a Thai feast. Lovely sunset from my window. Waves of clouds. Lovely spring Saturday. Monday was a warm spring day and buds were starting to appear on the trees. Ahhh, blue skies. Weird fuzzy-edged clouds. ...went for a long walk through East River Park... ... and soaked up the cold, clear air and winter sun. Nice little Tuesday. ...slowly change colors... I watched the sunrise and the sky... Five seconds after the predicted 6:26am sunrise, the sun made its appearance over the horizon. 6:20am. Just before 6am and the sky started to lighten. ...and the sun made an appearance! Was treated to a brief rainbow in the clouds. After days of cloudiness and rain, it was nice to see a little blue-sky threatening to peek out. The fronds on this palm look like the fins of a fish. Yeah, the views are ok. Ran some twilight hour errands in the neighborhood... Later that evening, I went to see Matt at a UCB show... ...out to Brooklyn... Blue skies, pink twilight clouds and a fingernail moon over the East Village rooftops. Closeup. I lived in Eagleton, Colorado right near the Red Rocks amphitheater from ages 1-3. On the drive over, I called my parents to get the exact address... We had to wait awhile for a table... First day that had a tiny bit of fall chill in the air. While out walking Maddy on Saturday morning... Headed home. Up, up and away! Onward home. ...the lovely outdoor world! The moon was huge in the sky and the house kept getting... ... smaller and smaller as I wandered further and further away. I eventually found my way to the barn and sat inside on the barn floor staring at the full moon in the sky and mirrored down on the pond in front of me. Suddenly, everything made sense for the first time. On Friday I was taking a picture of the sun over a building. Walked home with a belly full of pizza. On Saturday Maddy and I went uptown... Strange brushstrokes. Beautiful clouds over the East Village. Walking the hound. Took the backroads home. Twilight Dragon or phoenix? Wings in the sky. We came bearing beers. East Village sky. Afternoon skies over Flatiron. East Village twilight. Wispy skies. East Village skies. More working in the park and later that evening... Boarding our plane via the tarmac, 7am. Sun rays on the ride home. Woke up to a cloudy January 1st Frigate bird keeping an eye on us. After a morning of working from home... East Village sky. Here we go! When we started out, there was no wind and the water was almost glass-smooth. The weather when we started out was perfect. Nothing to see here. Just a totally normal sky! (This is probably just a totally normal -4 C variance that just happens to be shaped like our country, right? !) Double rainbow around the cloudy sun along with a bullseye chemtrail er, contrail. Cloudwave. I finished up six hours later just in time to see the sun go down. Did a little bit of work in the morning and then around noon... We drove back into Manhattan to return Quinn's car. ...but then the clouds rolled in and there was thunder. GTFO. Plane. A little after 2pm, we walked around the corner to see if we could get in on some... Hey, everyone: MOAR CONDOS! ...on a Friday afternoon! I ended up getting introduced to someone there who ended up hiring me for my first major long-term project as a consultant. Let's hear it for showing up! ...the clouds had rolled in and it was a bit too cold... ...so that we could enjoy the evening.... Up early on Saturday morning and rode my bike up to Flatiron... Oh, man. I love Nitro so much. Here we go! ...we'd made it to the (almost totally empty) parking lot. We'd made such good time on the way down that we had plenty of time to set up my camera to try to catch shots of us jumping in the air using the auto-timer. Haha. Dramatic clouds over the beach. After eating, we went down for a stroll on the beach. ...was a real peach. While we waited for the horse to arrive at the hotel (he was being transported down to Manhattan from upstate via trailer), Klaus (the manager of the hotel at the time) took us up to the roof so we could see the totally surreal view from the glass-edged roof deck. Breathtaking! Starting the bumpy ride back. Monday, 9am. During low tide, we decided to explore the beach in the other direction. We saw the birds were centered above a boat of fisherman that had just come ashore. Sun until 6:30pm is such a relief after New York's early darkness. Morning beach view.
