We took them to some divey bar in the East Village where Grant and I immediately went into "dancing bear" mode struggling to convince Devin that we're as funny in person as we are on this site.
Meredith, Grant, Amanda, Sarah and Devin (who we all met through this site! Devin did all the design-work for the first incarnation of the Fiasco site and as a thank you, the band flew he and his wife up to NYC to see the first show!)
After the insanity of my going away party earlier on in the week at my apartment, my official "last night in NYC" was feeling a little anti-climatic. We all sat around wishing we could think of something appropriate to hallmark the occasion. But after a while we couldn't think of anything and we decided to call it a night. That's when we headed outside and discovered that...
When the place cleared out late that night, Grant decided to humor me one last time by doing a flying David Lee Roth scissorkick off of the fucking bar downstairs. Hahahah. My batteries were dying and my shutter when off just before he launched into the air.
Speaking of fuckers, here's Grant and me. I met this fucker working at Nerve back in the summer of 2001 and aside from his short-lived stint out in LA, we've been inseparable ever since. Here's me making a face and trying my best to pretend I wasn't going to miss the shit outta him. (Awwww.)
In the AM I met up with Grant and the Fatty for one final Dim Sum brunch down in Chinatown. (Where after years of eating there with us, Fatty finally spoke up and told us "Hey, you know what? I don't even really like dim sum.")
T-minus one day. All packed up and feeling nervous, I opted for a little escapism and went to see an afternoon movie with Grant and Leigh. On the way out, Grant and Leigh both took their turn being the "seed of Chucky."
On Thursday night (T-minus three days!) my roommate Victoria cooked a nice dinner and invited some of my friends over for a low-key dinner party. Here's The Fatty, Tinnz, Charlene and Grant (Sarah was there later on!)
Grant and David demonstrate "The Eiffel Tower of Power High Five" with Miye as the lucky girl "in the middle." Check out the sweat stains - did I mention that by this point in the August night my apartment was about 110 degrees?
I was so hot and sweaty that I actually snuck into my room and changed out of Black T-shirt Number 3 and into Blue T-shirt Number 7. (Yeah, right - like I have seven shirts!)
Awwwww! Thanks so much guys! You are the best friends ever. (Sorry I moved back so soon!). I started to put my gifts away and they were all like "No, no, no. After all the time we spent rounding that stuff up, you're wearing it at the party, CALIFORNIA BOY!"
Just in case there was any doubt about who planned this party (*cough* Frank's Mom *cough*), all the guests received silver lasagna serving spatulas. So awesome. Congrats Frank and Liz! Now get to work on some grandchildren already, will ya?
Three bozos. Grant, Fatty and me arriving at the reception in CT. (Note the accidental irony in Fatty doing the "L is for Loser" handsign backwards. Hahah).
After he was finished pouting, Grant rallied and exacted his revenge. Not only did he wrestle Meredith down to the filthy floor of Lit and give her a hickey...
Before heading over to Misshapes on Saturday night for my party, a few people came over to share a delicious wheel from Lombardi's. Here's Charelene and Grant digging in.
....PANTYBANDIT! Awwww yeah, lemme hear ya! Check out Scott laughing because he total caught the PantyBandit in action. (PS - I'd be lying if I didn't mention that this photo kind of gives me a boner.)
And Grant securing some "sweet oral." (PS - How sweet is Lila's undershave in the back? Now that I've posted this, I bet all the kids at Misshapes will be sporting this haircut in two weeks.)
After I mastered being a DJ, I headed back over to my apartment to meet up with Grant. And do a little pre-party warm up drinking. Full Story: Remember how we went to Iceland? Well, we ended up buying a bunch of bottles of this stuff called Brennivan - which means "Black Death" in Icelandic. Anyway, only after we'd bought a bunch of bottles of it did we learn that it tastes like it's made out of Band-Aids and pine needles. Not wanting to throw it away, I decided that anytime someone's over my house and we're going on, everyone present has to do a jigger of Brennivan before leaving. So here's Grant and I about to take our obligatory medicine. *sputter*
But before getting on that early morning D train, I met up with Grizza and headed deep into the heart of Chinatown for a daring dim sum breakfast. I mean, if you're going to be spending all day in the heat, you should make sure your first meal has plenty of vitamin C(at).
On the street outside of Remote we ran into Grant's former interm Noah and her friend who gave Grant the mutual "get a load of this guy" (because they were both wearing Robert Smith clothing items!).
Grant hit the stage and tried out some new moves. Like pretending that his leg and ass were a guitar so he could play along for the two-guitar solo (holy shit). After warming up the crowd with his new moves...
And then Grant impressed us with his pole tricks. (Actually ladies, this is only one of his "pole tricks." He'll happily show you his other if you ask next time you see him.)
Sorry, Larson. Shortly after Larson's song, I was called up and handed my camera off to Grant so he could take some pics of me. Instead, Grant spent the entire time using my camera to...
We ended up heading out the Runway 69 in Queens which on the sign outside promised some very intriguing 'All "NUDE" Dancing.' Grant was stymied, while Seth seemed to have...
After our club "experience" (I seem to recall getting treated to visually stunning dispaly of vaginal gymnastics including a woman who smoked a cigarette "down there") we hopped back into the limo and headed back to Manhattan to find something to eat.
