...and made it to the (super fancy) University Club a little after seven. Cocktail hour! Originally, this party was going to be just our family and family friends, but due to 10 last minute cancellations, we had 10 FRIENDS there! Yay!
On Friday night we went out Union Pool for Jaymes' birthday! Here he is showing off the the gift Meredith picked out for him (a polar bear that shits jellybeans!)
We were also there because Meredith parents were throwing us a big "congratulations on getting married" party (that was really just the wedding reception Meredith's mom didn't get to have because we got married somewhere else. (Remember when I made fun of Frank when his mom did the same thing?)
We're trying to train Maddy to stay out of the bed but it's really difficult because our bed is really low to the ground (and because she is really adorable). So ended our first month as married folks!
The cold Meredith had been fighting since we got home finally caught up with her. She had such terrible chills that she needed to wear my fur hat in bed. Look at that tan! I've never seen such a pretty sick lady!
After we finished eating, we only had a little bit of time before our next flight. So we wandered around the mall of stuff-no-one-needs like this crazy head massager.
On Saturday morning we woke up to the sound of someone hitting the tiny gong at our weird mini-palace gates! I went out to investigate and it was the hotel staff setting up the 8am breakfast we'd ordered the night before out on the little island thingy in our pool!
When our tour guide found out that we were on our honeymoon, he insisted on stopping every couple of minutes to take pictures of Meredith and I together. Doing things like...posing in front of the rice paddy! And...
Our bungalow had these crazy sprawling gardens and was walled off from the rest of the resort like some crazy feudal castle. Here are the "gates" to our room. Meredith laughing at the hanging gong people at the hotel would hit to announce their presence. WHAT?
I totally forget the name of the 2nd place we stayed at in Ubud, but it was pretty insane. Here's Meredith like "Whoa" as we walked through the stone-walled maze that led to our bungalow.
Later that afternoon, we set out to do some more sightseeing in Ubud. On the way out of the hotel, there's a bridge that goes over big, lilly-filled koi pond. They have a big brass bowl of fish food out so you can feed the koi.
The temple was getting ready to close and we were the only visitors! Luckily, there was a temple minder there who's job was to show you around and to help keep the monkeys from getting too aggressive!
Mer doesn't like scuba diving (she has trouble equalizing the pressure in her ears) but she was excited to snorkel around the reef while we were diving.
