Five minutes after laughing about this, a hiker passed us coming the other way on the trail telling us that a bear had been spotted by other hikers nearby! We made it to the top of the trail unmolested by nature.

Aliens in the Prime of Their Lives by Brad Watson is one of the best collections of short stories I've read in the last few years. Really strange and haunting. Several years later and most of them have still stuck with me. Definitley worth a read!
