This is the 2nd best pic of the night. Vin & Josh blow up Grant's spot ("Who does that guy think he is back there?") as he tries to kick it to Amanda in the background. HAHAHA!
Can you pick out what's different here? Yep, that's right. Only one person is wearing a blue shirt. (From L to R: Lil' Buddy, Tall Stranger that was trying to be "money" like Vince Vaughn, Chris, Grant, and Grant's crazy friend Alyssa who came back to my place and tried to cheat on her boyfriend with me. Crazy, crazy, cuh-razy.
Added bonus (of embarrassment)! Here's a 30-second video-clip of Grant getting picked up and fucking body-slammed!! I kid you not. After dropping him like a two-foot putt, Maxine twists him like a pretzel until she finally gets him in a scissor-hold leg lock which cause Grant to do a submission tap-out right at the end of the clip (that's right, listen carefully and you can actually hear him wheezing and banging his little hand against the mat).
After dominating the first few rounds, Grant conceded that Maxine both better training and, um, more reluctantly, bigger muscles. He asked if she had any pointers to improve his technique. Maxine explained that Grant flailed his limbs too much and that if he stayed compact and curled up, like a shrimp, she'd have a harder time bending him into pretzelly, little shapes. Right before this pic was snapped, we heard Grant yell from underneath Maxine "Be...like...*grunt*...*gasp*...SHRIMP!"
This is my favorite picture. I think that expression he's wearing is what you'd call "genuine panic." (Which you'd be wearing too if a giant, well-trainer wrestler was putting you in a "small package.")
After getting out we headed down to sub-mercer to say hi to my friend Peter who was spinning. Joey ended up buying a drink (which at sub-mercer is like $12). So after we leave the club, he all pulls these two glasses out from under his shirt. When we asked him why he took them, he dropped science explaining "If I'm going to pay that much for a drink, I'm going to keep the glass.....er, plus some other glass too."
Here's us in the stairwell with Joey Cavella after being let out by the elevator repair guy. (When we called Joey to tell him we were stuck in the elevator, he was out partying and was a little drunk and thought we were fucking with him. He was all like "Yeah, so you want me to come down to the office and open the door because you're stuck? Yeah right!", then hung up! It took us three calls to convince him that we weren't kidding).
After Grant got a look at the pics he took of me looking for the hatch he said "Hey, you look cool up there! Now take some pictures of me! I want to climb up there and look cool too!" (Yeah, too bad you think I'm kidding). What could I do but humor the kid....
There's some fancy-schmancy couple who lives in our building - Grant tried to get their attention by screaming "HEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLP!" at the top of his lungs
After coming to the realization that we weren't going to die we decided we should probably start working on getting out the elevator. We pushed the "HELP" button and were promptly connected to repair company that maintains our elevator. The man we spoke to told us that he'd dispatched a mechanic and that he'd be there in 45-60 minutes. (45 minutes! Faaack! Keep in mind, we'd gotten in the elevator to go up to work because we both had to pee!). Further complicating matters, our building's front door is locked so the dispatch guy tells us we're going to have to get in touch with someone who can come down and let the elevator repair guy into our building.
So before the party got going, we were all sitting around being stupid and Grant decided to strike a sexy face. Which, in the spirit of the Matt Weiner Face Contest, spawned a "Sexy Face Contest."
Too bad I forgot to take into account that Grant's Limey ancestors have spent the better-half of last thousand years hunched over in dim caves mining coal and whatnot on their god-forsaken Island country (aka - England). He beat me by a full ten points on the little lightbulb meter. Fack!
So Nina (Grant's girlfriend) invited us to go to her friends' loft party in Brooklyn. After hearing our story about the last time we partied with girls from Sarah Lawrence, all eight of us piled into Brian H's van (yep, he's got a big, white, molester-van) and decided to go check out the party.
Grant was getting sentimental watching all the little kids get swung around by one of the Dads there. Hating to see him down, I was happy to indulge him in a little trip down memory lane.
Turns out that Grant was too scared outside in the dark by himself to take the time to find some dry kindling. So after his "girlyfire" went out I had to go out and find some wood to get the real fire going (but I still let him pose in front of it like he had something to do with it).
Grant gives the thumbs up to the fire he built. (Just for the record, the flame you see is actually just newspaper burning and his "fire" promptly died out like 10 seconds after the photo was taken).
The house was on the edge of lake in middle of nowhere. There was no moon out that night and I don't think I've seen such pitch darkness in a really long time. Turns out that Grant is a big scaredy cat and Tookie and I took turns scaring the bejesus out of him. Look at him scurry up those stairs as I chase him in the darkness shuffling my feet and making "scary" noises. Run Grant, run!
Dave G (The Ladies' Choice) has got to get with the program! He's all in the background making his "Party Guy Face" when we clearly told him that it was a "Blue Steel" moment.
"There was nobody." (Grant's really not this funny looking...I'm only posting this pic because I think it's neat that the words from the TV prompter showed up in the picture.)
For anyone who doesn't know, Grant is hands down one of the best karaoke performers I have ever seen. He choose to sing "You Should Be Dancin'" by the BeeGees (and he sang that shit higher than any BeeGee would've dreamed of singing it).
Chris, Nina, Grant "I Did it for Science" Stoddard, me. (BTW, ever notice that as soon as I get a few drinks in me, okay more than a few, I have my mouth open in every photo? 1 in a series of 3.)
