But these two certainly weren't going to let a little falling face-first into the carpet dampen their karaoke party! When life hands you lemons, you make lemonade! And when your singing friend falls down during karaoke - you just mount their stomach and ride them like a cowboy while they hump the air underneath you! That's just what you do!
While the swim was fun, Meredith realized that spending the rest of her drunk night in soaking wet clothes probably wouldn't be all that awesome and we decided to stumble home in search of dry clothes and a bed to pass out on.
If I remember correctly, Meredith was giving Daniel girl-advice and I think it actually escalated far enough that Meredith got on his GSM phone and actually tried to get her on the phone so she could tell her what a great guy Daniel is. Hahaha. (If you want to know the kind of shape we're all in at this point, check out Daniel's eyes. Hahahaha. He can only keep one of them open!)
This has got to be one of my top ten "I can't believe we're still partying" photos of all time. Murdo's face in this picture makes me LOL every time I look at it.
Considering the timestamp on this photo says 4:09am, I'm guessing this photo was taken as (a totally blottoed) Lawrence took the stage to (angrily) thank everyone for coming before he sang the last song of the night. Lawrence, why are you waving a dollar around? Does anyone remember what was going on here?
A few minutes later, Julie and Ralph stumbled outside and had a hilarious conversation where they tried to decided if they were "too drunk" to bike all the way back to Brooklyn. Hahaha. In the end, they decided to go for it! (And I'm happy report they made it home without incident).
There's not much of a story to tell with rest of the photos. It's pretty much just me getting drunk with my friends. And I ended up getting pretty, pretty drunk - as evidenced by this photo I stole from Dens' Flickr that shows me triple-fisting three different types of drinks, each in a different type of container! (A cup of Scotch, a can of PBR and a bottle of Heineken. Oooof!)
Right outside of the Ballroom's exit, I found Sarah's friend (whose face and name have been removed because he was horrified about these pics showing up on the interweb 18 months later...hahaha) totally fucking face-down passed out on the street. I helped him up and put him in a cab...
I was sort of peeved at the time, but now that I look back at these photos and see you straight-up chugging bottles of Bud Light I remember "Oh yeah, it was THAT kind of night!" and all is forgiven. Hahaha.
Full open bar for more than 3 hours = the whole company drunk out of their minds by 9pm. Hahaha. Here's Mike, me and Kevin lamenting the end of free booze as the open bar ended. But if you're inventive like Mike is...
The thing that best explains why Antony "Posh Tony" Ellis is hula-hooping in the kebab shop that's on the corner of Orchard and Houston is the timestamp on the photo: Saturday, January 21, 2006 5:11:52am.
While we were all standing outside playing with Piper, I noticed that there was a really, really drunk girl sitting up against the building and teetering back and forth. Sensing something magical was about to happen, I made sure to keep my finger on the shutter button. Sure enough, a few minutes later....wait for it....wait for it....
...BAAAAAAAAARF! I managed to catch the impact but was a few seconds too late to catch the actual vom-stream coming out of her mouth. (I guess I'm slipping!).
...a drunk salaryman passed out! Salaryman are white-collar Japanese workers that are essentially overworked wage slaves that are expected to put in ridiculous hours. Every once and a while, they cut loose and hit the town, only to end up totally overdoing it and are famous for falling asleep and/or passing out in the streets in their work clothes.
Things came full circle when Mr. Roh, the director of the entire camp that had instigated the binge-drinking at dinner, passed out on the street outside of the club.
I was happy to see that wanting to pose with drunk, passed-out people is an international phenomenon. The Korean kids posed with Mr. Roh, but covered their faces a bit, so they wouldn't get in trouble. After they were done showing me the "Korean way" to fuck with someone that's passed out, I showed them....
Later that afternoon back at Sarah's apartment (my temporary home for the summer) I had the pleasure of meeting one of Sarah's friends that had recently moved to NYC from California. His name was Baron and right when I met him he was like "I like your web site. What do I have to do to get on it?" I was like "Uh, nothing. Just hang out. I'm sure you'll end up in some pics." He was like, "Nah, I don't want to be in the background. I want some prime time pics. What if I do some crazy shit? Will you take pics of it?" Me: "Suuuuuure!" Without a moment's hesitation, Baron stripped down to his undies. I was like "Yeah, so you're in your undies. Now what?"
Fatty even showed up trashed out of his mind with a bunch of his co-workers! One of them passed out on the infamous couch in the back. (The site of 2004's infamous "Drunk Guy Jenga") And despite her being one of Fatty's co-workers, rules are rules. If you pass out in public, it probably means that...
This kid was wasted. He went to sit down in this chair and just totally and completely missed. He landed flat on his tailbone and decided to just stay down. Ouch.
The guy in the black leather jacket was pretty much the drunkest ambulatory person I've ever seen in my life. All throughout the show he wove his way in and out of the audience, jumping around, spilling drinks and either routing for or heckling the band. (He was so drunk it wasn't clear what he was yelling. Just that he was very enthusiastic about whatever it was he was yelling.)
Sleeping late means that I'd still be wide awake at like 6am in the morning. Rather than bother Meredith, usually I'd sit on her stoop for awhile chain smoking and listening to "trying to calm the fuck down" records and chain-smoking. And occasionally taking, "Whoa, I'm drunk," self-portraits like this one.
...and her drunk friend Arianna (who I think is a shoe-in to win the "Women Who Look Sorta Look Like C.C. DeVille from Poison" Contest"). Awww, c'mon! I'm not saying....
All of the kids usually end up hiding in the corner by the food and get krunked on free Scotch! Check out my huge, mooney I'm drunk at 2pm face. Hahah.
We left the party and by the time we got back out on the street both my brother and Sid had finished their bottles of Night Train. (The next day while we were looking at all these photos my brother got to this one and said "Yep, finishing that bottle of Night Train and posing for this photo is pretty much the last thing I remember." Hahaha. At the next party we met...
On the way over, we stopped in a liquor store where my brother and Sid, despite my repeated warnings, decided to try Night Train Express (the very finest of fortified bum wines) for the very first time. I was like "Yo, Guns N' Roses even wrote a song about how that shit's even too hardcore for them...do you know how hardcore that is?" At first they laughed at me, but then they started to understand that I wasn't joking around when the toothless 60-year old man at the register who had tattoos on his face looked at them increduously and said "Night Train? Are you sure you want to do that, guys? Wow." For a minute I thought they were going to back out - I mean shrugging off Axl Rose's warning is one thing, but to ignore the tattooed-face check-out guy? That's crazy. But in the end, they put their money on the counter. The checkout guy just kept shaking his head as he bagged them up and as we left the he called out "Good luck!" Hahaha.
I decided to try to instigate and was like "Hey Mike, you should give your new friend a kiss!" Check him all ballsy bringing the "fuck you" finger out right in front of her face (also make sure to note how my hand is all smooshing his neck as I'm actually trying to get him to kiss her). Hahahah.
a loud, drunk asian girls in a straw party hat showed up and helped liven things up! Fuck yeah! When this girl cornered Mike D. on the stairs he was all like "Hey, this is my friend Brian! He should take some pics of us together!" Then Mike D. raised the bar from the "get a load of this guy" face and went straight for the "serruptitious fuck you fingerpiont." Classy!
And um, to think about stealing another filthy stuffed animal, this one tied to a tree - but then thinking better of it and leaving the filthy thing alone.
Speaking of trouble, look who's six drinks on her way to Drunksville? So somewhere around this point Leigh was like "I'm feeling feisty! What kind of trouble can we get into in San Francisco? I know! How about we try to score some hippy weed?" I was like "Uh, neither of us really smoke weed, though. Remember?" She didn't seem phased: "I know. But isn't that what you're supposed to do here."
Me, "So you want to try to buy some weed?"
Tinny: "No, I don't want to buy some weed. I want to see if we can get someone to give us some for free! It'll be like a scavenger hunt!"
We started off by asking around FriscoDisco - but all we managed to find were people who wanted to sell us cocaine. When we got outside, Leigh ran across the street to check out a huge mob of people that were standing outside of some other bar and ask them for free weed. Less than a minute later, she suddenly starts running away from the crowd all fast and re-crossing the street heading towards me. I immediately thought that she'd accidentally asked a cop or something and got freaked out. But it turns out that she...
After Mike was finished up at Casanova (PS - Mike, I have no recollection of where that box of Rice-a-Roni came from. Do you remember?), we piled into Michael's car and headed to a secret destination known only as "The Slides."
After Leigh was done interrogating this girl's friend to make sure he really knew her and this wasn't a rohypnol date rape gone awry, we left our sleeping princess in his good hands.
