I kicked off a super-social Sunday with brunch with Amanda at Esperanto (special guest appearance by Grant's dad's doppleganger!) Homemade chocolate cake with ice cream and berries for dessert! That strawberry, pecorino, truffle oil & honey crostini, still haunts me. FUUUUUU. The meal was five different kinds of veggies all wrapped up in a giant piece of sourish flatbread. Mmmmmm. For dinner on Friday I tried ordering a vegetarian meal from the new Ethiopian restaurant that opened nearby. Stopped off to smash a few slices... ...we walked down to An Choi to meet up with Grant and DECIMATE delicious bowls of Vietnamese food. My brother and his friend Sid were both in New York visiting on Tuesday. After pre-gaming at my apartment... On Sunday I met up with Grant by Tompkins and got a serious brunch on. Egg Shakshuka, OMFG. Later that night we reconvened at Matt's to attempt to watch Game of Thrones and not slip into a food coma after Hans came rolling in with FOUR DIFFERENT KINDS of homemade empanadas. ...for a St Marks feastin. On Saturday Matt and I met up with Hans and Ellen... Spent Sunday getting in a pre-birthday hang with this lovely and talking about the ever-present feeling of "OK, NOW WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO BE DOING WITH MY LIFE" over tomato soup and grilled cheeses at the short-lived BIKINIS on Ave C. Breakfast. My man-cooking is getting totally next level. (Living alone means that "mixing bowls" are now just regular bowls. Haha). ...veggie-nibbler. We caught up and got accidentally smashed on sake and then our... Mmmm, breakfast. I always make 2 eggs for me... ...and eating a not-so-good-for-me Chinese feast from the little noodle shop downstairs. (Owww, my belly). The we ate an Indian feast. Whenever I order samosas, I like to yell the word "SAMOSA!" Had my an excellent Odessa dinner and read a book about Yeshe Tsogyal . ...we got a sandwichy feast from Tiny's Giant Sandwich Shop. Mmmm. ...FEEDING US SO WELL! ...ate my lunch in front of the blinding blue light. On Thursday evening Penelope and I met up for Mexican. Pad Thai always tastes better when eaten out of a boat-shaped plate! ...to one of the most all time COMFORT meals I've ever ordered. Had lunch at Organic Grill and ordered a sandwich that was served on WAFFLE bread! Treated myself to a deliciously snacky dinner around the corner... Got my Odessa on with Grant for lunch... Did a long reiki session and then got down with a korean feast! Man lunch! Nutrients. I has them. Awesome breakfast casserole ever! After we'd finished gorging ourselves on twenty different dishes... Later that evening, I walked over to Hans & Ellen's in the East Village for a big holiday feast! Check out the table spread! Had a late afternoon falafel & hummus lunch... ...and Siege even threatened to have some! Unfortunately, I didn't pass his "sniff" test. Grant cooked a Japanese dish for us... ...the feast was finally ready! ...Leigh put together! This was, by far, the biggest spread of food I'd ever seen... ...to the BIG O for grilled cheese and two sides of veggies. On Monday afternoon I walked over to the Organic Grill and had Blueberry Pancakes and Tofu Scramble for lunch. Aerial supper view. ...and insanely delicious potatoes au gratin. Check out Hans' gorgeous salad... After our excellent dinner was over... So good! ...on an epic breakfast! So thankful for friends who can cook! Post-work lunch at Odessa on Wednesday. Awww yeah, bachelor cooking! Big salad, giant piece of bread, homemade juice, served with a block of cheddar to taste. Grill cheese, french fry, spinach salad combo! Pajeon forever! Monday night Korean dinner with Vin in Williamsburg. We stumbled on the Manhattan outpost of Smorgasburg and stopped to get our treat on. ...for the cheese fries! That's where we feast on so much Thai food... Taco stop! Went into Whistler Village for an AMAZING breakfast. Took my parents out for dinner around the corner at Gruppo and fell in love with this!
Strawberries & Pecorino Crostini on toasted ciabatta bread, topped with pecorino cheese, fresh strawberries, fresh basil, and white truffle honey. Fuuuuuuuuuu. Had myself a solo Odessa breakfast experience. (Yes, those are chocolate chip pancakes). ..eating a spinach & mozzarella panini from Paradiso (yes!)... Back in the East Village, we celebrated our afternoon wave-jumping triumphs with an Odessa feast! On Saturday afternoon I met up with Meredith in Chinatown for veggie dim sum! When you drink from the little tea cups there, it makes you look like a little piggy! This every day. Dumplings and an afternoon drinky-drink! Had a relaxing Sunday catching up with this guy. We tried a Korean place in the neighborhood. We had a Thai feast for dinner and watched From Russia, With Love Adjourned with Vin to get a spinach burrito to counterbalance the C-Tav specials we'd consumed. We went to the park across the street and chowed down! Just because it's one-hundred degrees doesn't mean you shouldn't eat piping hot, extra-spicy food! She brought breakfast fruits. Monday night dinner with all these lovelies! Later that night, Astra and I went over to Amanda's to watch Mad Men and have dinner together. ...and spent the rest of the evening at my place eating San Loco and taking online versions of the Myers-Briggs personality test . ...and an evening pizza with Kristina at Gruppo. ...Kati roll. Mmmm. Later that evening, I met up with Grant for a drink at Tom & Jerry's and we ended up walking over to the West Village afterwards to get a late night... Then Vin took me to his favorite spinach burrito place. Mmmm. My favorite lunch in the world! Went out with Vin for a slamming Korean feast to celebrate his birthday... Grant and Amanda came over to hang and watch Mad Men and Game of Thrones. YUM! ...mostly things like this! Gurj came over and we ordered from our favorite Vietnamese sandwich place! ...soothed our troubles with 1am diner-feast at Odessa. Late-night meeting of the self-employed club at our auxiliary office (The Bowery Diner). Veggie casserole with rice and beans, gratin dauphinois... Later that night I went out to a veggie restaurant by myself and treated myself to a 4-course feast at the delicious (and now sadly closed) Table Verte. Beet salad... Bi bim banging day. Ended the weekend with a Sunday night pizza party at Amanda's with Grant and Kristina. Did some grocery shopping on Friday. I like the flowery-hole that's left behind after you twist off the crown of a pineapple. Went grocery shopping. My fridge looks a whole lot healthier than it used to! Vietnamese feast!
