Later that night I met up with Mike Doyle (the guy responsible for 100% of the fun I had when I lived in San Franciso - AND the guy responsible for me going to Korea and Japan!) and then he got on the horn and got ahold of...
Remember how earlier on I mentioned that Corey Feldman had moved into the apartment 3D, just a few doors down us? I totally wasn't kidding! Sarah made friends with him in the hallway and he totally invited our apartment to attend his upcoming birthday party.
The guy in the black leather jacket was pretty much the drunkest ambulatory person I've ever seen in my life. All throughout the show he wove his way in and out of the audience, jumping around, spilling drinks and either routing for or heckling the band. (He was so drunk it wasn't clear what he was yelling. Just that he was very enthusiastic about whatever it was he was yelling.)
Here's me in the pre-game using the international sign language for "YOU are GOING DOWN!" (As in "You are going to lose this game." Not the other "YOU are GOING DOWN!" There's a whole different set of gestures for that one. Be careful not to confuse the two or you could end up playing the strangest game of Scrabble in your life...or uh, becoming really good friends with a deaf person. It could go either way.)
Later that afternoon the ladies took me to Red Bamboo for some vegetarian soul food. (Most likely, because unbeknownst to me, I was being taken to a steakhouse for my birthday dinner and this gave the two vegetarians a chance to fill up!).
...ON HIS FACE! Hahahahah. Holy shit. You might think you've seen a dude freak out before - but you've never seen anything like this. Keep in mind, this guy was getting huffy because he didn't want his HAND stamped. When he got all aggro and leaned in towards Pete, Pete stamped him with the quickness. The bouncer had to be called over, Sarah and the French guy went outside so he could cool down and Pete was promptly removed from his stamping post. Hahah.
Meanwhile, back on the other side of the bar, Karen and I found found Brother Lawrence making out with Bridgette! Uh-oh! Right around this time, I asked Karen if she wanted to take "a birthday photo with my balls" (because, as you may have surmised by reading this site, I'm just that kind of guy). Not only did Karen accept, she raised the ante and agreed to take what is probably the steepest ball photo on my site...
Grant flirting with my future wife, Natalie (psst...Natalie, I want to make babies with you. If you're not interested in that maybe we could just practice making them. Email if you ever see this.) Bonus points to Jim for continuing to make the "get of load of this fugging guy" face. Hahaha.
This guy was awesome. He saw me taking pictures and was like
"That's a neat camera, can I see it?" I figured he just wanted
to look at it, but as soon as I handed it over, he took this
picture of himself, handed it back to me and walked away without
a word. So fucking funny. (No, you're
the man now, dawg.)
It was awesome. He was totally surprised. The best part was with each turn of his head he'd spot another group of friends that were there and was more surprised with each new realization.
I tried to capture Emily's custom-made rhinestone beltbuckle that says "EMILY" in sparkling capital letters, but it didn't really come out so well...so um, just use your imagination.
Ladies, you know him, you love him...and if you live in NYC, he's probably gotten drunk and tried to play grab-ass with you - it's Greg the Boyfriend! (Yo, besides Sarah's blog, Greg is the only other person I know whose website I actually read. If you haven't been there, go now.)
Here's Vin getting ready to light what he's betting me $20 will be his "last cigarette...EVER!" (Update: He managed to make it for six days before he had to hand over a Mr. Jackson.)
During brunch, we pretty much had Grant convinced that the "Jackaloupe" head (half jack rabbit, half anteloupe) mounted on the wall was real. So great (but not nearly as great as his Trogdor the Burninator shirt. Awww, yeah).
And then, always a big hit with the ladies, there's the incredible "Show Us Yer PISS FLAPS" SOUVENIR FROM GREECE button. Seriously, if you're having a difficult time meeting people at parties, you need to get yourself one of these buttons. It's a no-fail conversation starter!
We actually purchased all three of these buttons in hopes that the person who woke up one morning and thought to themselves, "Hey! Wouldn't THAT make a GREAT souvenir button?" has since become a rich man.
So to be honest with you, I don't really even know how this started. There was something about this girl's bum that Grant and I thought was great. So we started taking sneaky pictures of it.
Shortly after Grant tried to brain me - I woke up and we threw around the frisbee. That is until a "mysterious little gust of wind" caused the frisbee to dip right as Grant was about to catch it and it whacked him in the forehead. A "mysterious little gust of wind" that I call PUNISHMENT FROM GOD! Hehehe.
We even had enough time to grab a calzone at the pizza parlor around the corner from the theater. "No Fatty, you're the man now, dawg." (As much as I'd like to solely credit our win to Fatty's superb driving, Frank's inability to operate a motor vehicle and his lack of understanding of even the most basic of traffic rules probably didn't hurt our team either).
I was trying to take a video of us rocking out but took a picture instead and managed to capture us in the midst of some pretty serious MetalFaces (check out Fatty pretending to play kit in the background with his DrummerFAce in full effect. Hahaha).
With summer on it's way out Grant, Emily, Fatty and myself decided to ignore the day's forcast for rain and head back to Ft. Tilden for a little deserted beach action. (By the way - take a moment to appreciate just how great the picture above is).
After pizza (and after I was done hysterically laughing and pointing), we went over to Stingy Lulu's to meet up with Tara. After I noticed she was showing a little nipple...
After a few minutes of me sitting next to Vin, Marco notices that we're both wearing the same shirt (albeit, in different colors) and starts totally giving us shit. (Keep this in mind for later...)
If you look carefully at Grant's cheeks, you'll see the joke facial hair he grew special for night. (Yeah, it's a little patchy, I know. But if you squint a bit it looks filled in).
And here's Isabella "Tookie" Robertson, the woman who came up for the idea for the surprise party, and who also ruined the surprise by inviting Grant to his own surprise party. HAHAHA!
