It had all sorts of spiral-ramps build out of boardwalk decking! Headed back up off the beach! Happy 2011! ...I grabbed an extra bottle of champagne... Mer and me. Our invite was very specific about taking the Gatsby theme seriously and coming up with a good costume. Here's mine! We landed a little after noon! Around 4pm we all got cleaned up for company and even humored my mom and put on the matching sweaters! Merry Christmas! ...that my dad got one as well! Hahah. Speaking of a Christmas story, the next morning my brother and I opened presents from our mother to find matching sweaters! And it turned out... Hot chocolate mixes for me! Definitely related. All dressed up and ready to get my holiday on. I got memory foam-lined slippers! It's like your feet are getting a hug. ...she came bearing gifts! Ellen is an EXPERT present-selector. Meredith knows that later could mean months later and gave me the stink-eye until I packed up my mess... ...but it was kind of a big deal at the time. Haha. On Sunday, Meredith and I... I couldn't even stay awake past 10pm! In addition to reading in a hammock and napping in a hammock, other patio activities included a bongo board... Nothing better than a boat ride on a sunny day. That waterproof sunblock really brings out my eyes. Me with a 10' longboard. On Tuesday morning, we took a day off from surfing (to rest our sore bodies and bruised bellies!) and took a ride into the nearby city of Leon for the day. Tacos fix everything. Private swim. I decided to go for a post-lunch swim and Meredith snapped this pic of the house dog accompanying me. Another quiet night of reading in hammocks. Time to go! Getting my broga on. Trying to prevent my bean from getting cooked in the equatorial sun. Arrival. On our way! Fran was in town visiting from London! On Saturday morning, I rode my bike down to Tribeca... Taking the hound for a walk. Maddy eats SO MUCH rawhide, but has trouble eating the knots at the end because they're too big for her mouth. Zombified ride through the countryside. We landed right at 10pm, we had a text message from Ty telling us the address of a Halloween party he was at. He told us he had costumes waiting for us! While waiting in line for security, we made friends with a woman who was in line with us who ended up sitting next to me on our flight! Yay, airplane strangers! I think I've seen something like this before. Different drank, same krunky flavor (and head-sized cans). Blink. Edie's cheeks were getting smooshed by her spandex headpiece. Haha. On Saturday afternoon we walked a block over to Tompkins Square Park... Later on that evening I busied myself creating various hook-like tools to unclog the vacuum cleaner. Blech! Time to head home. Congrats... We purchased tickets on the Bolt Bus so instead of going to the bus station, they just tell you where to stand on Sixth Avenue. Back at home, we celebrated with Nutty Buddies... The taping went super quick and we were finished and on our way out the door before 1:30! (We DVRed the whole next season of the series, but never saw the episode with us on it! So we're not even sure if it ever even aired! Anyone ever see it?) They were filming three different episodes so there were nine couples in total. Here's us after we got separated with the other two couples we'd be appearing on an episode with! Thursday morning. 7:30am cab ride cross town... ...and here's us being newly married. After we'd gotten the paperwork completed, they took us aside to take some quick photos for the show. Here's us looking natural... About 20 minutes later, we emailed him this picture. Hahahaha. With the park closing soon, all the lines for the big coasters were closed. So Cat and I decided... Not enough hours later, I had to be at work the next day! I arrived to our team's office to find that Patrick had drawn awesome caricatures of us. Haha. Ran into Rachel there. ...and played light up frisbee for hours! All packed up and ready to head home! Thanks again to Jenny for suggesting the trip and organizing the weekend! ...and then decided to balance my camera on the boardwalk railing and try a few snaps with the autotimer. Hahah.
