Ty had already put so much work into the party! The door to each person's room featured a blown-up print out of their face on a disco poster! Here's the door to our room.
me
...and we all went out for a nice dinner at Fish Out of Water.
me
...for a nice light lunch.
me
...this year's theme was 70s Porno. I think I found my look.
me
Yes! The only thing that's more Florida than being able to score scary fireworks is...
me
..until we found the "Large Assortments" section. This is pretty much the only kind of shopping trip I can get excited about.
me
No luck turtle spotting but we did get to see some other exciting...
me
There's not a whole lot to do in Florida. By day four I was going a little stir crazy so I borrowed the neighbor's bike and my mom and I went for a bike ride.
me
After you'd finished dancing, the game would show you a screenshot of your moves along with your score!
me
It was complicated, but got better as we continued drinking.

The monochromatic Battjers with a big nutcracker.

Meredith and I got up bright and early on Thursday and headed to the airport to fly down to Florida for the holidays. We'd be spending Christmas with my family in Stuart, FL and then renting a car and driving up to the panhandle to attend Ty's 3rd annual New Year's Eve party!
me
And went back across the street to the airport. See you later, Nicaragua!
me
...there are only losers! None of can understand where Bruce's moustache comes from. It's a family anomaly!
me
Good times.
me
Before heading back - we stopped off for a quick swim to cool down.

Here's to ten years of Halloweens!
me
No dice! We ended up walking back to the East Village...
me
We took a crosstown cab through the rain over to...
me
...while I painted my face as a skull! Haha. This year I couldn't even be bothered to find white face paint and had to make do with just an eyeliner pencil.
me
Every time I see these in the store...
me
Family portrait courtesy of Ellen! Later that night we all cuddled up on the couch...

They were playing Dark Side of the Moon & The Wizard of Oz together on the movie screen.

Here we go!

A quick picture of Mer and I in front of the statue...
me
And sure enough, as we were jumping back and forth across the wake left by the Staten Island Ferry, a helicopter swooped in out of nowhere for a close look at us. It was the only time in my life I've said the sentence "Holy shit, I feel like I'm in a Jerry Bruckheimer movie."

When everybody is all dressed up my parents like to take a group photo so they can include it in the Holiday email my dad sends around (which is like the newsletter version of this site for older people. Haha).

A little after 5pm all the wedding guests piled into the shuttle...

"There are cold leftovers in your future."
me
Mer and I hopped in a cab and headed to JFK a little past 1pm.
me
On Thursday morning we got up early to head into Manhattan...
me
...and put some ointment on my nose bridge! And then got wet!
me
Here's me a few hours later after my new board clocked me in the face. I buried my nose, went over the front of the board, and when I came up for air, the edge of my board bonked me in the forehead right above my left eye and the sharp-edge of one of the fins when into the meat of my nose where the bridge meets the brow. I saw stars and had those few moments where I was afraid to take my hand away from my face because I was expecting a lot of blood. All things considered, I got off relatively unscathed!
me
Meredith snapped this pic of me fully fast asleep by 9pm. Haha.
me
...and got the royal welcome from the weiner hound!
me
A little later that afternoon, we went to the local diner around the corner. While we were waiting for our food to come, we played a game where the other person would make up a sentence...
me
...with no hands!
me
...we asked them to take a group photo for us! Let's hear it for diner / bowling therapy!
me
Haha.
me
...and ordered so much food.

me
But after a jumpstart-recharge, we made it all the way out to Long Beach before 12:30!
me
I was sitting on the blanket, and a giant bug fell out of the tree above me and landed right in front of me. He doesn't look all that terrifying / interesting from this angle...
me
Quinn came over to my aid in the bugvestigation!.

Picture this as a tetraptych (four-panel series): One...
