That evening Ellen came over to join us for the Mad Men season finale and Grant's puttanesca pasta with garlic bread and salad. 830am view of the family. Mer and Brett enjoying the grass. On Thursday evening, a bunch of us got together to see... Monday evening hang. Watching documentaries. On Monday morning Ryan dropped off an Edie with us. Double weinerage! ...s'mores supplies and a roaring fire! Lovelies. ...and added our names to the list of witnesses! Later that afternoon, we got dressed up for the wedding, threw our ponchos back on... We spent the rest of the morning napping, reading and hiding out from the rain. It was raining so hard on Saturday morning that we had to put on our ponchos in order to... About halfway around the island, Sarah spotted us and brought us beers! Meredith came out to join us! Sarah & Ben welcoming us to our cabin! Mobile pizza party! On Thursday morning, we picked up a rental car, drove crosstown to pick up Catrinel at the office... We walked all the way over to Fort Tilden beach and checked out the sandy pathways... Treedith. ...head to a bar right down the street to meet up with these two to see.. East 9th Street has a new gang with matching jackets! Haha. Tuesday night movie and WAY too many snacks at Siege and Katie's. Sun snoozers. On Sunday morning I went running with Grant. He slowed down considerably to accommodate my beginner's pace. Silent grazing. I don't remember if there was a special occasion or if this was just a spring friend hang, but check out the solid Saturday night crew that rolled up into our place! Ellen came over to get in on the feast. On Wednesday morning Grant came back to New York. He came straight to our place and we ate bagels in the park. Later that evening, we went to a gallery opening in the Lower East Side to see some of Clayton's art work. On the way out we ran into Spencer Tunick (who took a naked group portrait at Emma's birthday party in the Chinatown loft way back in 2003 ! After finishing up work in the morning, I had the afternoon free. Meredith and I decided to walk up Ave C... Did some napping. On Sunday we got caught trying to bring Maddy onto the bus back to NY (NO DOGS ALLOWED!) and we ended up having to wait 2 hours and spend a lot of money to take the train home. (And we still had had to hide her because dogs weren't allowed on the train either!). Later that evening, we went to dinner at the Living Social space... ...on The Art of Video Games ! ...and smuggled Maddy aboard a bus and headed down... Later that evening, we went out for drinks at HiFi! Later that evening we went over to Hans' apartment... Back at home. Happy birthday, Jeet! Mer and Biggy. Jo & Mer. On Friday evening we went up to Mer's parents house for... Afternoon nap buddies. Later that night, I finished our taxes. Woo! Ready? Happy birthday, Caiti! Take 1. Pauly came over on Friday evening and we braved the drizzling rain to check out... Still dealing with jetlag issues. Haha. Catching up on dog snoozes. We had just enough time at Narita to grab a sandwich. ...and began the long journey home. Four hour flight to Japan. The aquarium isn't very wide, but it wrapped all the way down the corridor. So there were always new fish swimming into your room! Meredith spotted... ...Hotel H20. You can choose between having a window that looks out onto the bay, or having a room with an aquarium-wall! A little after 1am, we said farewell! Congrats, Aileen & Ryan! Thanks for having us! That's my kind of cocktail! On our walk over to the reception, we ran into Bertl on his scooter and got a chance to wish him farewell! ...these really cool buses with fold-out seats that converted the aisle into ANOTHER ROW! Inside the church. College reunion. Fraggle treating us to some hot, carved-bamboo jazz flute. This invariably led to more physical violence. At some point during our night of drinking and storytelling, I told Fraggle & Bilbo about how my friends used to photobomb each other with our balls out. This of course instantly became their new favorite game. I'll spare you the hundreds of photos I have of these guys' balls. Meredith, Aileen, Una & Sam! ...for a disco ball dance-party at their favorite nearby bar. ...and then later that evening, we headed over to the Aileen & Ryan's hotel to check out where the wedding reception would be taking place. Warming up and drying off between dives! We got up super early on Wednesday morning and walked down to the beach... We went into town and had a late dinner on the beach with Bertl & Fraggle. Haha. A little later that afternoon, we rented a scooter and drove over to... Meredith was one of the few people to take our guide up on the offer to hold one of the screens. Haha. The food was sooo good! Mango and cheese salad to start... Post-breffis nap. We woke up bright and early, and when we wandered into town to find something to eat... After another TWO HOURS on the boat, we took a car from Tagbilaran to Alona Beach and finally arrive a little past 1:30am. Our taxi driver took us to a few different hotels trying to find vacancy without much luck. Then he looked us up and down and said, I know a place that probably has vacancy if you don't mind a place that's a little....different. ...Psycho Killer! (Which isn't funny unless you hear it spoken in a French accent). . ...we ran into pack of beach puppies! About the best you can do as a vegetarian in the Philippines! Before passing out, we had managed to book a snorkeling tour with a local named Ricky who pulled his boat up on the beach right next to where we were finishing our breakfast! Meredith, in her safari dress, sailing the blue Visayan Sea. (This is one of my favorite photos of Meredith.) As we got further north, the bus cleared out until we were the only people left on it. Yay, travel buddies! Meredith and Amanda out in the unreal, bath-warm water. Just a buncha rocks with a Virgin Mary statue and some impossible looking trees. Later that evening, we went out for a late night dinner on the strip. Fun motorcycle sidecar taxi ride. ...small airport. Where we waited... We woke up early and checked out! Afterwards, we headed back to the hotel for an early night jammy party. ...we opted for Shakey's Pizza! After a nap back at the hotel, we climbed through the fence so that we could walk along the beach... ...saw the old Spanish fort. ...we met up in Amanda's room to try to figure out where we should all travel to next! Amanda only had 4 days before she had to come back to Manila and head home, so we wanted to travel somewhere close enough where we'd still have time to have fun!
