On Monday afternoon I went out with Leigh and on the way to see her brand new apartment she was getting ready to move into we noticed that the magazine store on her new corner featured a magazine in their window with Leigh on the cover! Incognito!
Jeff hooked us up with Toy Fair badges (with other people's names on them - so we had to pretend that we were TOY BUYERS!!!) and set out with us to explore all the booths! We got to visit the Cranium pavilion! This is pretty much the closest Meredith's ever come to a religious pilgrimage.
And here's my reaction to opening a card and finding a slip for a pre-ordered Amazon Kindle from Mer's parents. Holy moly, awesome gift! Thanks so much!
...meaningful-video-game-release-date! In this case, ladies and gentleman, the game in question was ROCKBAND! My brother and I are huge Guitar Hero fans and we'd been waiting on it for months!
Here's Lisa celebrating him! Or is has she already moved on to celebrating the Asian lady in the wicker cowboy hat? But hey, I guess it's appropriate either way. Win!
The place even had a tv and a mini-bar (the first we'd seen in Thailand) that was stocked with reasonably priced drinks and snacks! As soon as we got there, Meredith was like "Let's stop traveling and just stay here until we have to go home."
...and Meredith was stoked to get Squidy with some "crisp and delicious baked cuttlefish. Mmmmmm! (Anyone who shuddered reading this that also eats beef jerky, needs to take a long, hard look in the mirror.)
Check this noise out! After you get through the changing area, there's an escalator that takes you up to the base of the skiing and snowboarding section. Thumbs up (and crazy eyes!) from Faisal!
Hahaha. Look at Jeff's face. That's a "kid on Christmas morning" expression if I've ever seen one. Getting giddy about some of the "mortar ball" fireworks that we launched after exhausting all the smaller rockets.
After eating way too much food for brunch, we decided to continue our overindulgence and double-down with some desserts! Here's Quinn's apple pie with EXTRA ice cream! Hahaha.
On Friday night I went over to Sarah's for dinner and I brought along the "Pasture Pals" Christmas present that Meredith had picked out for Ellen. Look at that smile! Can you tell how much she liked it?
...and a third TV in the second bedroom. A realization that caused Mer to bust both boobies out! (The best part is, we didn't even end up turning any of them on. We were just excited by how extravagant the place was.)
At lunch I met up with Leigh and we went to the magazine store on Spring and Lafayette so she could show me her picture in a magazine. (I can't remember which mag this was...maybe Teen Vogue?). Well, needless to say, this was one of the first times she'd appeard in a mag and she was totally excited...since then, Leigh appearing in magazines has pretty much become a weekly thing! Why you gotta be so fashionable?
We got to my parents house in NJ and found my brother all excited after months of (f)unemployment to finally be able to show proof of gainful employment by busting out one of his brand new business cards that announce him as a consultant for Ascenture. (Check out how happy my Mom is! No more hand outs! No more hand outs!) If you've been reading my site for a while, you know that anytime I'm visiting my family in New Jersey for a holiday, there's always one thing that needs to be done...
...stole this stuffed squirrel that was tied to a homeless man's abandoned shopping cart on my block that we'd passed earlier in the day and laughed at. Weed and a Squirrel down the street!
On Thursday night I hopped in my (hot Nissan Sentra) rental and headed over to the Oakland airport to pick Leigh up. Awwww! Who's that who's happy to see me? Ummm, it's the Tinny!
Before being hired by AdBrite, I'd been using their service to sell advertising on this site - on Thursday morning, I received my very first paycheck for all the ads that had been bought! Wooooo!
Then this random British guy (who apparently lives in the building nextdoor to me on Bowery) showed up and wanted to get in on the action all "party boy" style. Nice!
