The bar was hot and way over-crowded (what with the free ice cream and all). We worked our way into a hidden corner and our exploration was rewarded with the discovery of an industrial-strength fan. A simple flick of the switch turned that shit into a Whitesnake video situation right-quick.
She explained it was a device she'd fashioned earlier in the evening that allowed her to turn off the lights in the room without having to get out of the loft. Check her out demonstrating THE DEVICE in action. TA-DA!
I can't imagine that any of us would've enjoyed her reading nearly as much had she kept her regular shoes on. (I love this photo SO MUCH!) Haha. Thanks for inviting us, Sarah!
Team 3: Gurj, Matt and Meredith went with a JERSEY SHORE theme. Here's Snooki (complete with Boof), The Situation (complete with THE Situation) and JWoww complete with no pants!. AMAZING.
Towards the end of the night, someone had the genius idea to recreate Meredith's fall from the chair earlier in the evening. Haha. I love how Fatty's reaching in to lend a hand.
We're trying to train Maddy to stay out of the bed but it's really difficult because our bed is really low to the ground (and because she is really adorable). So ended our first month as married folks!
The cold Meredith had been fighting since we got home finally caught up with her. She had such terrible chills that she needed to wear my fur hat in bed. Look at that tan! I've never seen such a pretty sick lady!
On Saturday morning we woke up to the sound of someone hitting the tiny gong at our weird mini-palace gates! I went out to investigate and it was the hotel staff setting up the 8am breakfast we'd ordered the night before out on the little island thingy in our pool!
The temple was getting ready to close and we were the only visitors! Luckily, there was a temple minder there who's job was to show you around and to help keep the monkeys from getting too aggressive!
The next morning we woke up before 5am and went downstairs to swim in the hotel's gorgeous edgeless pool that's right down near the beach. (Meredith's in the pool, but you can see the ocean right behind her).
Mike took this great photo of us with some of the Cathay Pacific flight attendants, then we said goodbye and headed to the gate. Thanks so much for coming out to see us off, Mike!
Hahaha. Check out the winning smile and graceful poise. This guy is 100% professional. Other bartenders take note. (PS - Check out the guy in the background making an "Oh" face.)
See? It was so unbelievable. This photo looks totally staged with her little paw draped over my shoulder, but this was how she wanted to ride right from the get-go. It was about this time that we realized we'd gotten a weirdo.
As soon as we got her into the warmth of a cab, she stopped with all the strange mewling noises she was making and immediately settled down. We were trying to hold her on our laps, but she kept climbing up and wedging her self between our backs and the seat. It seemed like she really wanted to sit perched up on our shoulders.
She arrived wrapped in a blanket inside a tiny crate. We took her out and she was cold, shivering and making adorable "mewling" noises. We took her out of the crate and she was delighted to be with us immediately. We couldn't get over how cute she was.
Meredith told Bob that she wanted to punch him in the face and Bob shrugged and said "Go ahead then. Punch me in the face. Hard. Do it." Meredith was happy to oblige (and I was happy to snap this picture just BEFORE impact was made). The look on her face is awesome. "I know I shouldn't be doing this BUT..."
...and satiate everyone's caffeine cravings with a delicious new concoction he called "TEA-PUCCINO!" It was like the Grand-Slam of dad jokes. This picture rules.
A couple days after the party, we all received an email from him with a link to a surprise video he'd edited together with all the clandestine hula hooping video he'd shot. It. Is. Amazing. My favorite part is the highlight reel of everyone throwing their hands up and leaning that starts around the 1:45 minute mark (right after Siege does the "white man's overbite") and just keeps getting better. (PS - Make sure you check out Ellen's sideways "tit-sway" at 2:14. Amazing.)
...my dad took us next door to see Bruce's condo. He'd already done a bunch of work to "Brucify" the place. Check out the MEGACOUCH he put in the living room. It's the only couch I've seen where sitting isn't an option. You can ONLY lay on the thing. It's basically like having a leather bed in your living room.
OMG. Back in the day, Leigh used to be out late every single weeknight in the Lower East Side - so much so that she became friends with some of the garbage men that had that route and they used to give her and her roommate Jessica rides home to make sure they got home safely. Haha. We got out of Lawrence's party and when a garbage truck passed us, Leigh hailed it like a taxi AND THE GUY STOPPED. Hahaha. Let's hear it for free rides!
On Sunday morning the dishwasher overflowed with suds because someone put the wrong kind of detergent in there! I love Meredith's expression in this photo.
On the way home we visited Lisa in Nolita who was working on opening a new clothing store called Court. All of us were in the tiny back office that had an electric fan on the floor pointed upwards - which everyone know instantly forces girls to pretend they are in a Whitesnake video. Awesome!
We got off the A train at Canal Street and walked across town to Vegetarian Dim Sum House. This place is incredible. Even if you're not a vegetarian, I encourage you to check it out. (C'mon, it's not like you even know what's usually in them anyway, right?)
