On our last night we took family pics by the tree. ...my dad's best friend Roger and his wife Bonnie for dinner. Roger is British and my dad's version of Grant. It was really sweet to watch them hang out and interact. (Sadly, Roger passed away just a few months after my dad in late 2018.) This ornament is really cute. Love looking back at old photos. About to pass out after an afternoon at the Russian Turkish Baths with Matt. Sleepy Sunday! DUMP EEET! Met up with Gurj and we got lunch and massages on Saturday. Came back to mine afterwards to hang. ...thinking about my recent breakup with Jane and then learning that my dad had to go back into the hospital....and had a nice long cry about life and the ever-quickening passage of time. Happy October 2017 everyone! <3 ...I brought the skeleton out of the outhouse and back into the cabin. Headed to Lumberjack's for a coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Was feeling sad but also relieved to be home. Woke up feeling like a bag o bones and had to do a whole morning stretching routine to prepare for another 6 hours of driving to DC. Stayed up late foam rolling my sore-from-driving back. First driving selfie in the new ride! It was an emotional farewell. ...of me saying goodby to my dad. <3 On Saturday I packed up and got ready to drive my new truck back up to NY. My mom took these lovely pics... I spend like 20% of my waking time on a mat. My dad's brother Bruce and his two sons Chris & Steve all came to the hospital to visit my dad. All the Battjer boys in one place! Oh you know, buying hats...making friends! Props to the Uber driver who had to pick up our rowdy drunk asses several hours later.... On Tuesday morning, I headed down to Florida for a week and a half to see my dad in the hospital and spend time with the fam. We were freaking out a bit, because we needed the Wolverine to shuttle all the soon-to-be-arriving guests up and down the mountain...but luckily a quick trip over to Ronnie's Cycle across the state border and the tire was fixed and the Wolverine ready to run again! Yay! Went out that evening and met up with Tyson at... After dinner we... One of the new packages contained this giant bag of pancake mix! A set of tiki torches! Cast iron cookware set! First aid kit! Telescopic hot dog roasting sticks! Picnic blanket! BBQ cooking tools! Woke up early to get the fire going again. (Ooops, these pics are technically from September, but I'm too lazy to move them to the next entry and republish! Shhhh!) Some anti-mosquito lanterns Here we go! ...and headed back east in my zip car. Elevator goodbye with Cass, Jen and Eric! On Saturday I saw that Vin posted a drawing of me from a photo of me sitting on the beach! By the next morning, I was able to breathe better, but my face and nose were still swollen! Later that evening, some of the lake water had gotten into my sinuses and I had a strange allergic reaction and my whole face swelled up. ...for a swim! Went to a late night screening of Atomic Blonde with Jane Anne. Happy first half of August 2017! Maddy kept me company while I did some work in my office. Sorta just looks like my normal eyes. Love all these ladies. Got home and showered (and checked for ticks!) and got ready for my birthday party! Naked pic for posterity. This is 41! Second box had set of tools and enamel coffee mugs!
